After 3 years graphics will be totally outdated and then they may enhance them for another 3 years. After 6 years or better 5 they need to switch the whole engine.I dont think this is going to happen so this is pure advertisment to buy the game.
let's see that is 14 years from now, in 14 years i will be 37, wow, i dont know if i will stil play game at that age... lol
You will, Time changes nothing in your mind, only the world around you changes.
From the time I graduated high school which was only about a year ago I've gone from being way into games to being midly interested as well as picking up other hobbies instead. Now multiply that over 14 years and I can't see myself doing this nearly as much then. Obviously that is different if you are 40+ as you are likely set in your ways because you are entering late life. Generally, humans change in time.

Yeah because nobody plays games with outdated graphics. Nevermind that EQ1 is over 12 years old and still has yearly expansions and other games like UO and AC still get new content.
An MMO lasting for 14 years is not impossible, though it is difficult. if TOR lasted until 2025 it would be as old as UO is now, and only two years older than EQ1 is now. It's probably unlikely, but it's not impossible.

They would likely be nothing more than the instances that pass as planets in STO. Odds are most planets in the game will be that way anyway regardless of how many they have. Hence the mention of major planets vs minor ones. Even if they were large planets that are fully fleshed out, what would the value of those planets actually be? Unless there were incredibly large numbers fo players on each server people would be spread so thin you may as well play a single player game.

When did Eve come out? If you look at Eve when it came out versus Eve now you can tell they revamped the graphics engine, several times. It still looks good. Who says Bioware can't do that? I applaud for their graphic style becuase I personally wouldn't play this game if it looked like Crysis. Nowadays graphics are changing to the point where some games distinguish themselves by visual style. Graphics, alone, don't make a good game. Look at Borderlands. It uses a 4 year old engine and it still looks good and the visual style is awesome, not to mention it's a blast to play. Part of a game's charm is how it looks, not how fast can it break your computer with beastly spec's.
Bioware's track record with quality games is much better than other companies. even though that statement is opinionated they have the rewards to back them up. I'm sure the developers were joking with the 500 by 2025 statement but some people read way too into it. If they hit that mark, great, if not, I could care less because I'm sure I'll still enjoy the game.

He's actually saying 19 worlds in the DH transcription.
Which is 2 more than currently announced.
also from DH:
4:26p: Question: How many worlds at launch? JO: Oh, so this is the question that I have to answer again to make up for my screw up from yesterday. There are 17 full major worlds in the game, there are other minor worlds in the game as well.

Oh yeaa i remember when i first played borderlands, and i was like, i love theses god dam graphics lol. They werent special, but thats the thing, they don't need to be "omg i can see your eyelash's" graphics.
But noone would go to Dagobah nor want to own a Wookie or Yoda companion with Smell-O-Vision V_V
edit: On topic now; They are confident it seems. I like that. But adding anything beyond 50 planets or so would bound to be an effort in repetition. I'd rather hear them talk about adding massive, free roaming SPACE gameplay personally. As that would add another cornerstone to the game, rather than more of the same planet based bipedal heroicness..
A simple joke and people start attacking the game with baseless claims.

Absolutely.. You must be the new guy??
Anywho, confidence behind a Star Wars based game is not that strange.. Do you guys remember how well the original Star Wars "remastered" DVD box sets sold when they re-released years later?
If they can avoid an immediate sinking ship tragedy like galaxies, I am positive that Star Wars fans will relish this title for yeaarss...
I hope he's right. It's really good to see that they're planning for quite an extended period of time.
Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it."
See the problem with this statement is, why would you need 500 planets in 2025? I can't see the game growing nor the content being different enough to take it that far.
Unless they're going to start stuffing us all into pods like they did in the Matrix.

So they make a blind statement that they WANT to add lots of worlds and people praise them for 'planning ahead?' Fanboy much? Not only that adding 'real estate' to a MMO is a amtter of course, stop acting liek its some huge innovation lol.
Still I imagine lots of people will love the Star Wars Edition of WoW. I mean SWtoR.

Yes JO does and in the real world there this thing they call a joke. ;-)
Because flying a Minmatar ship is like going down a flight of stairs on an office chair while firing an Uzi.

(im gonna win not 1..not 2 ..not 3...4..5....6....7 championship rings)
im fine that even if he doesnt make a fraction of that amount of content by that time..
but BOY OH BOY the "Realists" are gonna have so much ammunition when this falls over.

It's arrogant, but I like it. Especially since I have first hand knowledge of what the game is like so far.
Let's hope they actually pull it off!
in 14 years I'll be 53 lol
EXACTLY, coming from a 39 year old who did not play one MMO til SWG and I was 33 at that time

My brand new bloggity blog.
Heheh...why not. I will play games until I drop. If that is 95 then that is great though I am guessing at that age I will steer clear of PVP.

37 is actually the current average age of gamers in the USA. So, while you personally may not play games when you reach that age...most people will.
I know guys, i will prolly still play at that age, lol, i was just messing around with the Joke the dev made when he said 2025, haha
So What Now?
