you know what? the OP list was what "should" be made into an mmo not "what would be easy to make into an mmo", so i say yes, great list.

my fav of course would be the Elder Scrolls mmo. i dont care what all you negative nancys say about the impossibility of making justice to the original. with money and talent it's very doable, plain and simple. i mean just look at MO which is the closest thing to anything resembling a possible Elder Scrolls mmo. granted it's a piece of crap but it was  made with absolutely no money and a handfull of amature programmers.

i have no dobout that with some serious money and talented programmers and Elder Scroll mmo can be made to kick some major ass.

not really sure there is such a great demand for a western mmo however....

Okay, if we're only talking about video games being made into MMOs, then this list is excellent.  However, what about tabletop RPGs that really need to see the light of the MMO day?

    1)  Earthdawn

    2)  Shadowrun

    3) BattleTech

    4) Millennium's End

    5) Dark Conspiracy

    6) Torg: Role-Playing the Possibility Wars

    7) Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play (not the BS garbage out, now, a true MMORPG {ROLE-PLAYING GAME, not KILL EVERYTHING IN SIGHT})

the reason Fallout works is because most of the time you're out at a wasteland alone. it would be weird if the wasteland is populated with other players.

i would love a game based on Harry Potter or Magic: The Gathering. both IP have got really rich worlds and fleshed out characters/storylines.

  • redpinsredpins Member Posts: 147

I vote for magic the gathering, but I KNOW they will ruin it. On a better note, I'd rather someone come up with their own unique ideas and make a mmog, so they can't say "But they told us to follow this pattern."

I struggle not with life, money, emotions, and world, but against old mindsets and selves to be proven obsolete in a age and time of rapid changes. Go create fun, so you can have fun.

Never thought about X-Com, but yeah, X-Com would be a cool MMO, so long as it's not 2-D...Definitely MechWarrior, lot's of room there for a Universe or wherever.

     how about Gi Joe??

with the Robotech movie comming out even that could be interesting...or even Gundamm

im surprised Street fighter has not been mentioned..make, build , grow, train your own fighter....

last few off the wall ideas...

a miami vice game where you could be law enforcement or bad guy.....

    1. Heroes of Might and Magic, a MMO reincarnation of the series in some form of game which is a better P2P Atlantica Online

I would much rather see Might and Magic World of Xeen made into an MMO.

  • KokushibyouKokushibyou Member UncommonPosts: 230

    1) Elder Scrolls - The OP got this one right

    2) Wizardry - The best CRPG ever made, I really miss this series.  High Fantasy + Sci-fi, what could be better than your own Fairie Samurai dual wielding a vorbal blade and cobaltine power glove.

    3) Might and Magic World of Xeen - Another classic of the CRPG space, this game had a great sense of humor and was just plain fun to play.

    4) Realms of Arkania - This game was based on a fantastic German paper and pen game.  The lore is fleshed out and the game always provided a challenge.

    5) Chrono Trigger - If you know this game, you are probably wondering why it isn't higher on the list.  Just too many great classics out there.

    5) Arcanum: of Steamworks & Magick Obscura - The needs to be a steampunk MMO made.

  • KokushibyouKokushibyou Member UncommonPosts: 230

    7) Planescape: Torment

    Almost forgot.

TES would make a good MMO, but it would be better if they took the same route minecraft does with servers. Privately hosted allowing as many players as your bandwidth allows. Skyrim +4 or 5 buds would be just plain godly.

  • UnsungTooUnsungToo Member Posts: 276

Yeah, that's a good idea on TES too Gwydien

Dune, yeah. Now that would be interesting to see how that works out. Got hooked on Dune when the movie came out, played it on the Sega Genesis, then the Strategy game on the PC. It would be interesting to see how that would turn out as an MMO.

A good housing and harvesting/mining and crafting system would suit it well. I'd like it to evolve though, to shall we say "Greener pastures" a more plush life or an ascension, I dunno. Not much other than spice goin' on.

I reckon bringing more attention to our real life water and morality problems and what we could do about it might add some umph to the game play.

i didnt think of the water angle, but it can be added and it would enhance the buy/sell/trade as you said, i was also thinking for all the guilds as well as their home worlds......also the facedancers the golas and other minor factions. with at least 3-4 worlds it would be a huge game! with lots of intruge, backstabbing, stealing, and other nastiness could be an awsome game if designed right. of course you would need stuff like ships and equipment and if done in real time like EVE and enough options to either make an action base toon or intruge based toon..man the possabilities!

  • UnsungTooUnsungToo Member Posts: 276

Yeah, the assets, resources and the world wouldn't be a problem. Making it with long standing playability would probably be the biggest battle.

Maybe craete a "LIke Dune" world that way the IP don't get in the way.

Just a few thoughts- Obviously spice is everything with what it can do. Lot's of crafting potential, auction house use, eternal life, health, foresight and travel to a from different places and times. Maybe travel to a certain place in time in the future and the past, the future and the past zone area's could be like a line of the same world with different evolution periods.

The water will destroy the spice.

I dunno. I think what I wanna do is harvest the spice, tinker around with the machinery, build the machinery, have to find spots of the spice, maybe protect my harvesting area and rig, go home store my stuff, go to a strip joint, and explore.

Exploration, it can be a funny thing, what I expect from exploration is probably different than alot of other peoples ideas of exploration in what I can and want to do..

Yabba yabba jibba jabba. Just startin' to run on now, Yeah, I'd check out a Dune MMO.

All of the above are good idea, I personally would love to see a survival horror mmo.

    Silent Hill

    Dead Space

Alone in the Dark (not the latest remake, more like the very first game)

Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth

Black Mirror (yes, this would be an adventure mmorpg)

    Undying

The Blair Witch Project (yes, please scare me while I'm running at night in a forst, please)

Quest for Glory: Shadows of Darkness (I thought it could be a great mmorpg before knowing what a mmorpg is...)

"Only in quiet waters do things mirror themselves undistorted.
Only in a quiet mind is adequate perception of the world."

Silent Hill would have to be the worst choice for an MMO ever, how the hell does one achieve a sense of isolation when there's people all over going "lol" and "owned"?

  • therain93therain93 Member UncommonPosts: 2,039

There's one game I would love to see made into an MMO.

Star Control II -- The Ur-Quan Masters -- Another brilliant SCI-FI game with a rich story that is relatively open-ended and makes for a great MMO theme.  The Ur-Quan were a hideous Arachnid-like alien race that had been enslaving numerous races across the galaxy, eventually conquering Earth.  A team on a research mission for "Pre-cursor technology" eventually builds a starship and sets out meeting other races, some also enslaved, in order to rise up against the Ur-quan.  Factions within factions, it would have great PvP potential as well as social, exploration, and customization opportunities.

For a nice read on the races, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Star_Control_races

    1: MECHWARRIOR (classic era)

2: Transformers (that hub game does not count)

    3: more MECHWARRIOR

    4: Battletech

    5: Did i mention Battletech/MECHWARRIOR

This have been a good conversation

    1. Mass Effect

    2. Elder Scrolls

    3. Star Craft

Only ones I'm interested in, since Star Wars is beeing made and all. Mas Effect needs some kind of MMOFPS something, not sure how Star Craft should be done, maybe a third person view and top-down for ship battles.
