Why does FFXIV have so many hits today?

Its actually an honest question.  I don't know if its something with the weather or what, but when I checked the "most popular" tab today I saw that FFXIV was at the top, and then I was confused.

As I remember this game was absolutely in a class of its own with being terrible.  So whats the deal?  Or is gaming becoming like Hip Hop these days, the worse it is the more popular it gets?

Thanks

I don't have an answer for you, but I am wondering where this "most popular" tab is.  I can't find it anywhere on this webpage.  Please tell me where this is.

The moment I read "It's like" or "WoW" is the moment I stop reading your post.

new developer and increase in good content/patches... the game is way better the it use to be, and I think soon it will make a huge rebound, people should start making the switch from 11 to 14... i just started on selbina and the server/game is great.

    This

Coupled with the fact that XIV has no subscription at the moment, it is a very appealing game for those of us on a tight budget for the time being. IMHO, FFXIV beats out any ftp game on the market, and all it cost me was 20 bucks on amazon.

By the time they start charging subscriptions around the ps3 release, I wouldve gotten many months of almost free enjoyment. Money well spent!

I must admit after playing the OB I was shocked at how awful it was...

but I picked it up very cheap last week and have been having some fun on it... Only real problem I have is the Cooldown on Levequests being too long.

If they ditched that system and made the levequests some form of dailys you could do alongside normal quests I feel it would appeal to alot more people.

It is however heading in the right direction and for the price it's available atm ( I paid £4 ) it's a steal with no sub fee currently required.

the best way to level, even above leves is to form an exp group atm.... so try that when you dont have leves or w/e.

The reason I always liked 11 is the reason I don't like 14...

11 had so much content for you to do that it seemed like you'd never run out, and I started playing back shorlty after the North American release.  14 seems like they're so busy fixing the mistakes they made when they were designing their game they still don' thave a lot of storyline or the endless amounts of gameplay seemed to answer.

You do have to remember though that FF11 was out for 1 year and had 1 expansion already when it came to NA. Their Japanese release wasn't as ABYSMAL as 14's but it wasn't what most would call "good" either. 14's deffinitely making a comeback. 3 of my friends and I just came back and we HATED it when it released. We're all having a fairly good time. My friends did the new dungeon a couple times recently and are now kind of hooked.

It's not great... But for free and the fact nothing new out lately and we're bored it's REALLY working for us.

I just don't see like a unifying point...  Like the storyline in 11 made me want to level so I could do the missions and stuff.

The story in 14 seems like its just begining with not awhole lot of meat to it yet, I mean I agree with everything you are saying I jus tthink the game has so far to go before its where 11 was at the same time in its life.

I agree 100% with you Laughing I usually do.

However I'm kind of Burnt out on FF11... not that I've done everything just kinda... done with it, and FF14 is sooo FREEEEEEE I never get that "Not log in for a day or two" guilt that I always feel when I'm subbed to something lol.
