    Just a thought.

I'm not all that confident that this is even the game that the devs wanted to make.  With pushy and overbearing companies like EA and LA involved, Bioware probably faced a lot of pressure to develop a game that the despots wanted, rather than pursue their own vision just as they'd seen it.  EA especially isn't well-known for having a hands off approach with developers.

This, however I would not blame EA as much as LA though.

I hope you guys are wearing your tinfoil hats.

Seriously!  The conspiracy theories are pretty thick here.  The next thing we know it will all be the governments fault somehow.

If you can at a quick glance say "Hey that looks like WoW.", then yeah the game looks like wow. If you have to look close to find the differences in the graphics engine of games then it's an art similarity or a graphical similarity. Realy since ToR is a scifi mmo, and wow is fantasy then the only huge difference I see is the character designs. Other than that I would say I've played a game or two that have very similar graphics engines to ToR.

    (edit gramar)

Go back and look at WoW.

Can you read? I started playing before release. Played it this morning btw, got the obligitory come back for 7 days. Just confirmed that leaving was a good thing, and how much tor looks like a game 7 years old.

Just saying I can't see how you can think it looks like WoW. Style wise? Yea its similar but actual graphics? I realize opinions differ but it gets to a point where its just silly.

I agree with Jimmy562 on this one.  You really have to stretch the imagination to claim you have to look close to see the differences.

There was no point. There mostly never is.
I hope TOR is a fun game that delivers on its promise of entertainment. I hope I enjoy it, I will be buying it,  I am a Star Wars nut.
I am also a complete GW2 fanboi. I have never understood the juvenile neckbeard bs that goes on between fans. Or the armchair developers safely ensconced in their anonymity pontificating on what is done wrong or right.

I sincerely wish for Bioware to take their swing and knock it out the park. I hope GW2 revolutionizes the genre. I hope we all have some fun for our entertainment dollars.

I wish everyone sees ToR and GW2 as just 2 games out of thousand now, and thousand more to come, and MMO are just games, one of the thousand forms of entertainment now, thousands more to come, and entertainment is just one aspect of life, and there are many aspects of life that we need to focus on.

Simply put, relax, play and move on.

Im learning myself, that even if Im not excited for a game or I may not like what I see, it doesnt mean the game wont be, or isnt good.  More than any other old saying I can think off that applies best to this is :

I'm not sure what's more sad...

Another stupid thread like this being created...

    Or the number of replies...

And yes I'm aware of the irony.  As you were.

LOL! What point? The original premise is false and the game hasn't been released yet, so how can something go wrong when it hasn't been experienced yet?

Umm..Sorry mate but there is a very big difference between these two art styles. U might want to get a different monitor or a better graphics card or just a pair of contacts.. Do they have some similarities, of course they do, but they are very different.

Are you sure? Here I was thinking they looked exactly the same and I couldn't tell them apart.

Because I'm not going to read through 25 pages of discussion and continue it, I'll just state my answer to the title of the post:

They went themepark with it. Sandpark would have been better for this IP in my opinion. You'd be hitting all the SWG vets, the themeparkers that are bored of the same game being released with a different IP every year, and the ever growing market of sandbox gameplay.

If a Sandpark is well done, it is better than sand or park alone.  Of course, if it is well done.

Problem is, how to do it well?

I also know that if a game has pvp pve full loot partial loot no loot all well mixed together it can be wonderful.  Better still if it has excellent graphics, no lag, can run on 10 year old PCs, can be played via mobile phones and is f2p without cash shop.  Better still, if the game has free DLCs and 24/7 GM events.

Until we have a good solid proven blueprint of sandbox, let alone sandpark.  Right now, developers are struggling to keep any sandbox over quarter million sub.

I am not sure. Bioware never been a sandbox company like Bethesda and doing what you do best is usually a good idea.

And I don't think you can make both the SWG vets and the avarage casual player happy at the same time, Bioware and EA want a huge hit and sandparks might never become that.

True.  If we are allowed to bring Skyrim into discussion, I think we can have a lot more meaning sandbox/sandpark solutions.

I was thinking, if morrowind is somehow multi-player.  Not that I have an idea how to implement it.  ** scratching my head.

Blah blah blah, OP thinks he/she knows everything.  They're upset that EA/Bioware isn't hanging off their sa...er...every word about what to do with the game.

Got news for your OP, you're not important.  Never were, and still won't be.  Why? Because you're just one of the many thousands (millions?) that, despite your protests, are interested in this game.  There are far too many people playing the beta telling EA/Bioware that this stuff is gold to listen to a naysayer that probably hasn't even played the game.  Your whining is based purely on speculation and you are therefore nothing more than a troll.

I sentance you to step away from the keyboard, hit the gym at least 3 days a week (preferrebly 4) and go meet some members of the opposite sex (or same sex if that's your bag).  Get a life, enjoy some time with real people, then come back to this thread and see just how silly you look.

It's a game.  That's all it is.  And whether you like it or not, it'll probably be the biggest thing since WoW.  I can't confirm this as I haven't played it myself, but I know enough people in beta who say this game could be released now and it would trump most of what's out there when it comes to polish and fun.

One thing I have learned over the last 12 years beta testing MMO's is that when you start seeing assinine threads such as this spring up about a game, that it's generally an indicator that the game is going to be a hit.
