it doesn't sound like you played planetside at all, actually. it's a pretty zergish game at heart with 300 people battles.

With every Dick and Jane squad out there, there isn't enough room for everyone to own land in Planetside 1, not to mention it would serve no purpose.  Hey I have one, how about we instance a Guild Building for all of you guys so you feel important.  You can decorate it like a doll house and invite anyone to view your instance.

Look I know a bad man touched you in PS1, but yet again I'll have to remind you that this is a Planetside 2 thread.  I'll not even mention the fact that its outfits, not squads that are the guild equivalent in PS1/PS2 or the fact that yes there is way more land than players in PS1 or even that as I said this is talking about PS2 where every bit of land will fought over for faction ownership .. oh wait I did mention those things, oh well.

We get it, you don't want to play Planetside 2.   You'll be missed.

Geez, no need to get so defensive.  You want a dollhouse to decorate, you get an instance, what's so bad about that?

Do you know how many players follow the waypoints given to squads in BF2 or BF2142?  Zero.

THe artillery strikes and the Unmanned drones are just irritating overkill weapons for 1 player who grinded their way up in rank.  If I want to grind I'll play WOW.

Oh hi, as I said before this is a Planetside 2 thread, not Battlefield.   Not only that but your response to what I said albeit offtopic seems to be in agreement to what I said .. at least the first sentence anyway.  Yes its a known fact that many players aren't tactical, that's the zerg as in exactly what I said in the quoted part.  What successful guilds/outfits in rvr mmo's do is learn to herd the zerg.   Planetside 2 will make it much easier because it won't be using just waypoints but actual missions generated by those with the appropriate certs.

Also yes I often do follow the waypoints given by squad leaders in BC2 because you get rewarded for doing so, just like what PS2 is doing.

p.s.  What modern fps games are you playing that don't reward play with unlocks/certs via what you call "grinding" or what most people call "playing the game".

Why should you get rewarded for following a waypoint in Battlefield games?  Are you a horse with a carrot in front of you?  That what you are?  Or a mouse with cheese.  You should be rewarded by outsmarting your opponent, not grinding.

There is no grinding in an fps whether its Battlefield or Planetside.  The only way to get exp is to kill other people or support other people killing other people, again what reasonable folk call playing the game.  Your entire premise is false.   I don't know what else to say.

I apologize, there's just something about your passive aggressive derailing of Planetside 2 threads that bugs me I guess.   Since you said you played PS1 you would know that there are no instances, everything is in game.  The point of a outfit "owning" a structure would be that it would then have to defend it.  It wouldn't restrict entry from non outfit members but it would allow the outfit to customize it to some extent, mostly with cosmetic details such as the outfits insignia and paint scheme.  We know those are already outftit perks you can gain with the appropriate outfit certs in PS2.

The PS1 home base mechanics only affects the outfit itself's ability to recall to it and some other cosmetic things.  It doesn't affect anyone else's gameplay.  Thus no need for instancing.  From everything I've read the devs are sticking with the PS1 gameplay formula, I can't imagine they would ever implement something like an instanced dollhouse.

And I can't imagine outfit bases having any use or function in the game.  And everyone has to be passive aggressive in internet forums, or them moderators will crack down with their whip against any sort of 'active' aggression.

    From my experience in WWIIONLINE, Planetside, Battlefield games;

-the developers shouldn't cater to offline-squad-outfits,

-the developers shouldn't cater to online sponsored Command outfits like High Command in wwiionline, or global chat in Planetside, or commander mode in Battlefield 2.

Think of something else other than these 2.  Yeah I know it doesn't exist, try using your imagination for once.

So what are your suggestions for what PS1 is missing and should be seen in PS2?  Crapping on other people's ideas because you got worked over by organized outfits in PS1 doesn't count btw.

Nobody got "worked over by organized outfits in PS1", nobody got PWNED by cat herders and no-tactic losers in any of these games.  The only thing outfits served in PS1 was to get someone grinded up to CR5 while others leeched off eachother for BR.

Uh huh.  So what are your suggestions for PS2 as per the title of this thread?

    Great posts.

What I would like to see gone are med kits. This game really isn't a FPS; it's not as simple as shooting your enemy; it comes down to one thing; who is able to press that F1 key during the fight at the right time.

Roleplaying-wise, this is just stupid. Whoever heard of combat in which a soldier could immediately heal himself; weapon-still-in-hand.

Get rid of med kits; force soldiers to retreat and let the medics do their work.

Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.
In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit

Yeah I could see that, though maybe make it something built into your armor on longer cooldowns.  Lighter armors would heal less or even none but allow you to retreat faster.  At the very least, I definitely think MAX suits should offer this so you don't have to take up space better used for ammo.

Who ever heard of deconstructing equipment and reconstructing soldiers after you die?

And the last thing anyone wants is a WOW-clone healing class.  Hey then we can bring the tank and nuker class into it, yeah.  Bring the holy trinity to Planetside, yeah.

I'm beginning to think you're just extremely skilled at the thing of which can not be mentioned on these boards, but just in case its not skill but ignorance that's not what Arclan meant at all.  The poster was actually suggesting making the game harder.  The medic certs in Planetside don't ... oh come on, you got me.   You're just doing this for fun now aren't  you?

If i had a few wishes they would go like this

(i know this is rainbows and unicorn fantasy land, but me likey)

I would like to see something that goes like this.... bear with me

ok so you grind in teh zerg and groundpound support or fly about what ever floats your boat in planetside all of teh above for me

when you reach br saaaay 20 you can then move to the navy, the navy is have control over space based ship battles including fighters to capital ships fighting for drop pod position and planet supremecy a few players as wingmen or gunners in your frigate against teh smurfs etc then some sort of boarding manoever to mount boarding raids on capital ships ergo cutting off supply lines to ground forces ping up pops global message to all those people pounding on teh ground tr has taken flagship of the NC and supply lines are limited, similiar to the supply lines from teh previous games, eg biolab etc

the supply lines just didnt do anything for me in teh first version it would be nice to think you could pound it out replacing the caves in space with some groovy deathstar like space dogfights going on it could replace the caves and supply network with one spacey coolness

it would take some serious thought to balance and ship respawn would be something else but some (insert sci fi space ship battle of choice action) might be nice :D

    nerf scissors! rock is fine...
    yours paper

A bit hard to understand, binkey; but I get what you are saying; sounds cool to me. Adding naval units; whether on sea or in space; would be cool.

The number one thing I'd like to see in PS2 is anti-hacking software.  I play PS1 regularly and it pisses me off to no end when I see hackers.  I'm not talking about the blatent hackers, I'm talkin about the subtle COF and ROF hacks that eveyone knows is out there.  Unloading half a clip into the back of an enemy agile suit only to have him turn around shoot twice and kill me in Rexo.  That and put a limit on peoples ping.  With CSHD packet throttling is a very popular hack.
