It wasn't something neccesary, for those that wanted to avoid RvR, but something that brought a different element to the game, which I think is great.

I just hope they don't screw up harvesting/crafting, as I am big on those areas too, I will have to try to find more out, I have been kind of hanging back till more info was available for the newer games coming out, and they were closer to launch.

Yes. There will be PVE content and Dynamic Events with in the World vs. World vs. World  area of the game. In addition to loot from PVE enemies, you will get loot for killing PVP enemies, but it doesn't come from their inventory, it is generated by the game. There is no mob tagging or kill stealing in GW2. Everyone who damages a mob or PVP opponent and does at least 5% to 10% of the total damage gets full xp and full, individualized loot.

Players will be able to level a character entirely in World vs. World vs. World, if they so desire and they won't have to go back to the PVE world for loot and item drops.

There will be harvesting in World vs. World vs. World. Just as in the PVE world, more than one player can harvest the same node, but each character can only harvest from each node once in a certain interval, (not sure what the timer is).

Crafting looks interesting. The crafting itself isn't revolutionary in any way I could see, but it looks solid. One cool twist is there are no recipes to get from drops or vendors. You can learn recipes by experimenting with different combinations of crafting materials and crafting components you possess. The system gives you some feedback on what might combine, so it's not too tedious.

@ The OP. No, there won't be persistant world PvP. Having it doesn't really fit into the game when you think about it. Every game that has persistant world PvP has factions, or is FFA combat. GW2 is neither. They could always add it for guilds or something, but that doesn't really fit in with their design model. They want players to work together within their realm, instead of constantly competing with each other for the same stuff.

WvWvW will be the alternative, however. It will have PvE content within it, but it'll be a large PvP map where you fight  with your realm to defeat other realms. It's not persistant (because you can't, say go gank newbies in the lower zones), but it is open, and should be fairly massive. They haven't given us many specifics on this feature yet, but I suppose you could compare it somewhat to WAR (in that it's a designated part of the world for players to fight in), or better yet, Aion.

While it would be cool to see realms battling it out over one of the dragons, this should still be a very exciting feature. I'd take it over hutt ball any day. If it's that big of a deal breaker for you, though. SWTOR or TSW would be your best options atm.

EDIT: On a side note. I think they did hint at having a WvWvW event or something along those lines at some point. If this feature is that much of a deal breaker, it might be good to wait until they release more info. They've hinted at it being pretty massive, but other than that we haven't seen much from it yet. As with the rest of the game, it'll probably be yet another 'seeing is believing' type feature; where it's kind of difficult to tell exactly what your dealing with until you get some hands on experience with it. I know I felt the same way with the other PvP content.

world pvp maybe but u still know where people will be at. so i think guild wars 2 is doing a good job by puting everyones in same place and have fun there.

I mostly agree with your opinion here, but contrary to most mmo that offer world pvp, in GW2 you will have 3servers fighting (i wish they didn't fixed that number and had it flexible to suit population density), so i hope for a dense population in the WvW map, so you probably won't have to wander like a headless chicken to find a fight. And you will have objectives like fighting over key points, so they will create pvp hot spot which is one of the most missed feature in any pvp game, i hope you could access the hot spot fights no only as guilded but also as non guilded, through quest/factions or whatever, so that everyone can actually participate (they hinted that solo and grouped will have things to do). And since the map reset every 2 week we wont have locked down pvp by one or 2 zerg as we saw in all open world pvp games. So I personally hope for the best, at least for better than what we are used to.
