    Duh... Godzilla.

King Kong couldn't survive a couple planes and a tall building, how is he gonna handle a fire-breathing monster that's actually won battles with other giants?

Godzilla all the way. More teeth, claws, a tail for swiping, body armor, shoots lightning bolts out of his mouth and lasers out of his eyes and he knows kung fu.

are you asking if a giant, fire breathing, Trex with shark like teeth and crochodile like skin would win vs an oversized ape.....?

  • Panther2103Panther2103 Member EpicPosts: 5,777

I think Godzilla just because he has more "armor" because of his scales. King kong might be stronger, but could easily be cut or anything like that by Godzillas teeth or claws.

Hmmm lets see a 300 foot tall firebreathing lizard king vs a 20 foot tall love sick ape you decide.

First of all, I saw the wonderful Japanese version. Second, Godzilla NEVER EVER EVER WON, nor was he meant to. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar and a whore. Anyway, the film itself! It's a great satire/comedy, which is what the producers were aiming for. The first two Godzilla films were straight horror, dealing with man's manipulation of nature. King Kong is a brilliant foe for Godzilla as he IS nature. He wasn't enhanced by radiation, but he was also abused by man. So now we have man's destructive capabilities and exploitation of nature, as well as the creatures they have created. At the core of this film is a TV studio executive trying to boost ratings for a science show. We get a lot of talk about "sponsors" and the "business" before it was cool. There are a few technical difficulties with this film. Their are some very poor edits, as a single shot will cut to a different take and carry on as if nothing happened. The costumes are also of lesser quality, though some exaggerations were made for comical effect. I have many favorite moments in this film. The main one being the first confrontation between Kong and 'Zilla. They square off, beating their chests, throwing rocks, and then...they simply walk away. Backing down as Godzilla shows off his fire breath and has the upper-ground. The final battle is weird and slapstick, and has Kong resurrected by lightning hands and then gaining lightning powers ?!?! This is very enjoyable, camp stuff. You must be willing to see these monsters in a comical light, and to have some lighthearted fun.

    GO KING KONG

What do you mean by "stronger?"  Who could beat who in a fight, or who has more physical strength?  Godzilla would beat the crap out of King Kong because of his fire breath, but I think King Kong probably has him beat in the bench press because Godzilla has those tiny dinosaur arms and underdeveloped chest.

Tonight's menu features barbequed giant ape, courtesy of monstrous lizard.

Edit: Hope King Kong doesn't discover the benefits of flame retardant suits.

I remember that movie,  I think King Kong actually won... but that was a very old film.

That being said,  Godzilla would win.... hell, even the Matthew Broderick Godzilla would win.

if taken as the way they were created at first ... 300 foot lizard vs 20-30 foot ape .. then yea obvious

but take the movie where they made them the same size that is another story .. and by the movie King Kong won..  though he was pretty "resistant" to the fire in the movie

Hmmm... this made me think. A cold blooded lizard versus a warm blooded animal. Mammal versus Reptile...

I'm part of the mammal species so go King Kong, those lizards have small brains with a size of a wallnut.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Kong_vs._Godzilla#cite_note-23

"Since King Kong was seen as the bigger draw (at the time, he was even more popular in Japan than Godzilla), and since Godzilla was still a villain at this point in the series, it led to the decision to not only give King Kong top billing, but also to present him as the winner of the climactic fight. While the ending of the film does look somewhat ambiguous, Toho confirmed that King Kong was indeed the winner in their 1962/63 English-language film brochure Toho Films Vol. 8, which states in the film's plot synopsis, A spectacular duel is arranged on the summit of Mt. Fuji, and King Kong is victorious. But after he has won..."

But if you compare the actual specs of each character in their own movies without "sizing them similarly" like was shown in that movie it is obvious who would win.

    Godzilla vs. King Kong

Godzilla was conceived as a monster created by nuclear detonations and a metaphor for nuclear weapons in general. As the film series expanded, the stories took on less serious undertones portraying Godzilla in the role of a hero.

Godzilla is a combination of two Japanese words: gorira "gorilla", and kujira "whale", which is fitting because in one planning stage, Godzilla was described as "a cross between a gorilla and a whale",alluding to his size, power and aquatic origin. A popular story is that "Gojira" was actually the nickname of a hulking stagehand at Toho Studio.

The King Kong character was conceived and created by U.S. filmmaker Merian C. Cooper. In the original film, the character's name is Kong, a name given to him by the inhabitants of "Skull Island" in the Pacific Ocean, where Kong lives along with other over-sized animals such as a plesiosaur, pterosaurs, and dinosaurs. An American film crew, led by Carl Denham, captures Kong and takes him to New York City to be exhibited as the "Eighth Wonder of the World".

Kong escapes and climbs the Empire State Building (the World Trade Center in the 1976 remake), where he is eventually shot and killed by aircraft.

Well, I think Godzilla will prevail. He'll kick Kong's ass! image

Do we need to meddle from the fact and post it here? Isn't it obvious from the start when you see godzilla and kingkong and compare them by the size. Even Godzilla dies and fell on king kong still you can see who is strong. What can an ape do to a highly radioactive lizard, unless ultraman will save his ass with a beam.

  • ShawDr3wShawDr3w Member Posts: 5

Well, I watched the 1960's movies and GODZILLA wins! because his taller, thicker, wider and can even breath out fire, unlike kingkong who is smaller and fast only. this set up between them is unfair. It should have been ULTRAMAN VS GODZILLA hehehehe :))))

  • IsawaIsawa Member UncommonPosts: 1,051

    Godzilla knows he is stronger.

The only really powerful King Kong is depicted in King Kong Vs Godzilla, and King Kong's abilities are blown outta proportion for that...normal King Kong isn't very powerful/strong compared to Godzilla.

  • blazin-aceblazin-ace Member Posts: 302

Godzilla. No question. But based on the most recent movie lore he seems to have a weakness to bots. So, Robo Kong from that old movie for the win. Just nobody mention that mecha-godzilla guy.

  • whisperwyndwhisperwynd Member UncommonPosts: 1,668

Lol I own that movie and King Kong gets his ass singed for his troubles.

  • ProstiProsti Member Posts: 45

Ahh. The ever so old conversation of Godzilla vs King Kong...

In contest between which is better. I would have to say Godzilla would.
