agree, tor= wow but in star wars universe, = wow grafix but more intricate but 2005 level quality not 2011. Game play, wow but freshened up with some new features. First year satisfying, year 1-5 dead as a dodo and competing with GW2 and Archage.
Using your logic shouldn't GW1 be competing with WOW right now?

Your Wrong. Watch this and know that even this was done a while ago. This is just about graphics. I won't even start on gameplay as you obviously have not followed SWTOR.

Right or wrong I don't think it matters as we all know this is the kind of post that simply represents the wishes of that poster having little to nothing to do with making a truly informed opinion based on research.

Im not trying to be obvious and I do follow tor in very great detail and will be playing it for a year, looking forward to it until next gen mmorg games finally appear on the scene. Less un-informed attack and more constructive analysis.
edit lol you realise the video validates my opinion.

True but I like to try and help inform the unwashed masses so they can, in fact make a more informed decision. BTW- I think GW2 is going to be outstanding as well. I am not comparing the two as I think both are worthy in different ways.

And what kind of information could you possibly have to predict the state of any game in 1-5 years???
From your own personal opinion? I for one like the animations, they could be better sure, but they look decent enough to me. Combat looks fine as well, though I could nickpick at both games in this regard.

Oh agreed and I understand just pointing out that at this point in this post some people are simply reading the thread title GW2 vs. TOR without even paying attention to the fact that it isn't even the point of this thread and making silly comments and comparisons to WOW
I prefer to think of GW2 as a fresh piece of fruit growing in a garden (who knows what size it will be, but will be tasty) wheras SWTOR is a reasonably tasty dried piece of dried fruit, tastes ok,safe, but im still craving something nice to eat.
I like this.
You're neat.
Now I'm hungry...
Long story short, here's my opinion (as if anyone particularly cares):
Guild Wars - Great quality, seems to be quite innovative and fun, meaty combat, great animations, unconventional
TOR - Quite conventional, story driven, atrocious animations, clusterf*ck combat, P2P... I could go on but you get the idea
Such a balanced view....
Whether or not you think my opinion is balanced is irrelevant to me.
I've seen plenty of footage and information on both games, and I see nothing - - absolutely nothing - - that I find even remotely interesting about TOR.
dear god. I am mistaken, tor will be much better than gw2 and archage.
Now you're just being coy, why must one be better than the other that's the real question here?
thats actually a very good point, First year TOR = really atractive. Once GW2 and Archage is out I would love to commit to a game, I just cant commit to all 3, so I need to pick 1 out of the 3 and either Archage or GW2 looks to be trying to move on the mmorg genre (surely you agree?), so in the balance of all probabilty I would go with one of those 2, but hey, maybe just maybe I will play TOr as a nice side-dish, but it certainly is not a 2012 class game imo.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
But even without a real answer the point is you have a less than stellar opinion of WOW right now and hence the comparison to TOR and it's just stupid to compare them much like when we were young and our parents would make foolish statements about our music like "it all sounds the same" or they aren't even saying anything".
I think I also touched on this because maybe you guys didn't read the entire thread and see but that isn't even the point of this post which is something we pointed out to the author in the first page by the end of this thread we would only have a bunch of wanna be die hard "innovators" taking the chance to trash one game (TOR) while praising another (GW2) when they know next to nothing about either.
We've all seen this before so excuse me for being skeptical of the "informed" opinions of people who tend to praise innovation up until they get the game and realize it sucks fantastically before returning to the forums to wage war against that devs that had the nerve to unleash those steaming piles of podoo onto the community.

I mearly replied that i thought WOW was a superb game, as a 200x game. Im trashing nothing, read my last post. everything does not need to be simple black and white you know.
innovation is a good thing when done with good intentions.
