Why do we constantly feel the need to walk on eggshells with homosexuals? What if there were only same race relationships? Would that make Bioware racists? Does the fact that there are relationships between different species make them zoophiles? It's like all people know how to do anymore is whine and complain. It doesn't matter what you do somebody is gonna throw a fit about it.

This is so pathetic it’s actually funny.  The original writings are humorous with a collection of opinions which don’t aid or hinder the game what-so-ever.  This fact alone should not inspire the amount of irrational responses it has, unless of course this game is the only way closet homosexuals can express themselves?

If your happiness is affected by the inclusion of same sex relationships in a game then you really need to go out into the real world.  I live in a very repressed location with a very old fashioned and religious extended family surrounding me yet being gay is no longer a big deal, my son is gay, many of his friends are gay and yes some of these people (ok just two) are looking forward to the Star Wars MMORPG...  In fact when I showed my homosexual (I have to include to highlight the point) son this thread he laughed, walked away and said the F word – and it wasn’t four lettered.

In all honesty this hatred and anger only comes from being repressed or bullied, but it’s not the MMORPG’s community or developer’s job to resolve that.  Whoever gets angered and upset over the game not catering to all gender, sexuality, ethnicity is without a doubt a FOOL.  It’s a game, pure and simple.  It doesn’t HAVE to cater to any specific user base and the fact so many people were angered by the game not incorporating their same sex relationship escapism only highlights the impossible task a game developer has today!

I’m not expecting to be able to make a fat, old, overly hairy, English Indian man and I’m not in the slightest bit bothered.  Should I be?  Should I gather my fat brethren and like children in a toy shop stamp our feet and demand dialogue options for being out of breath or perhaps the chance to wield two drum sticks in combat?  Why are the most stupid, selfish and hateful the most vocal and driven?  And now imagine how the world would be if that wasn’t the case...

You're never going to see any of the same-sex-relationship stuff, unless you play your own character that way, so what's the big deal?

Everytime I see a flirt option next to the portrait of a man, I know exactly what that suggests and I find it offensive.

    Funny Article.

1 - I do not think that ToR will end up being screwed like SWG was by a Future NGE. While I can understand some people having lost trust towards Lucas Arts over NGE, these are two different games in two different times part of two different partnerships.

And besides, SW:TOR has been designed from the ground up to be what NGE tried to do, so there is no chance that a TOR-NGE will be introduced ever.

Now if you want to argue that, SW:TOR even if set in SW setting will not be like SWG (Pre-NGE), then I can agree with that, and I do not plan to play SW:TOR personally because it is nothing like SWG. One was Sandbox the other is Themepark. I am not interested in the Progression or Story Oriented gameplay of Themepark games, these are not fun for me in the long run and only keep my attention for a couple of months.

2 - Pretty much agree here. While I think Story is a very important part of an MMORPG, I disagree with the way it is implemented here. But that is a question of Taste. And there is no right or wrong in reality. Those who enjoy a Story Plastered progression as Opposed to a Story lacking Progression will enjoy the game.

To me it makes no difference, what I really dislike is the Progression Oriented Gameplay of Themeparks, story or no story, it does not change the nature of the gameplay in my view.

So I will not be playing SW:TOR, but I am not a moron nevertheless.

3 - This well, I agree and have no comments in relation to the Sex of the NPC companion, we live in the 21st century for crying out loud, it is about time we stop our connection to 2000 years old arcane views.

In terms of gameplay on the other hand, I see this feature like yet another step in to the Themepark design of segragating people further within an MMORPG. I mean...a first step was to have Solo Play within an MMORPG, WoW did this, now SW:ToR is taking it a step further, you do not even need to Socialise with other players anymore, now you will Socialise with NPC's...in an MMORPG.

How much further down the drain will the Themepark Design bring MMORPGs? It remains to be seen, it never seazes to appal me however.

Bioware said that the game was to reflect the movies. There are no gays in any of the movies. I know people like to stretch and say Juhani was gay, because of same dialogue that was uniform regardless of the sex of your character but that is all debatable in my opinion. Secondarily, yes I know about the two Mandolorian characters, but that's really it, and that's a very very small portion of the Star Wars universe. It's nowhere near as prevalent as Bioware or the loud minority is making it out to be.

And if you want to play your characters as straight, do so. This doesn't affect you AT ALL. Any NPC romancing will be done in private cut scenes for the player ONLY. But in a typical anti-gay argument...you don't like it so no one else can do it, even in private.

I think that people should be allowed to do whatever they want in private, absolutely anything at all, so long as what they are doing isn't hurtful to someone else or illegal of course. While yes what they are doing is private, I find it offensive that I have to look at a "flirt" button next to a portrait/character of a MAN. I know exactly what it implies and I don't need or want to see it. At that point, it's not a private issue. It's rather clear cut and to the point just what exactly it's suggesting.

I get it that you're annoyed that people have the option to flirt with people of the same sex, and that it's there next to the picture of a MAN, (what about a woman who sees it next to the picture of another woman?  does this not concern you?)  But what do you do in real life?  You have the option of flirting with whoever you want.  If you want to flirt with a man you can, nothing is stopping you.  Let me rephrase that, there is nothing artificial stopping you.  You can flirt with a 90 year old man if you so desire, just because you don't want to doesn't mean you can't.  Do you just not leave the house so you don't have the chance of flirting with a guy?

Using the "lore" to support your rampant homophobia is weak.  Just because they don't mention homosexuals in the stories, doesn't mean there were none in the universe.  If the ancient Greeks practiced same-sex relationships, why would it not happen in a technologically advanced society? Really, people, admit your own insecurities as such.  That can be respected a bit more than hiding behind the lore to give weight to them.
