Argh, my eyes! Wouldn't mind watching or skipping through a "Let's Play a Heavily-Moddified version of Morrowind" but this is, my word...blech looking.
And I remember back when it came out going OMG OMG OMG, that looks so great!
I've taken two days off around the weekend so I can play skyrim. On release day my housemate and I are going to get beer and pizza and just make our way through the game world enjoying the sites.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

Oh come one the game looks fine. I recently started it up and with a texture pack upgrade the world looks beautiful.
If you were to start playing the game and give it 15 minutes you would get just as involved. I actually don't recommend some of other graphic upgrades that have been made as it allows players to see for very far distances and the game world is not designed that way. It ends up loolking like a patchwork of areas.

Well I agree its a fabulous game, but I would require some heavy modding to enjoy it again. I didn't build a PC that has cost me $3300+ for nothing...hehe
I just really hope they don't start simplifying everything in the game and start removing things like reading books, gathering herbs for making poisons and potions, or the crafting part of the game. I also hope they dont make it so you can't buy a house and make a collection of books, trophys. potions, poisons in your home. I always loved doing that
I think I have enough wood out back. But I plan on building a small fence around the entertainment center with barbed wire and a little slot for food and drink to be passed through. Must play.
I'm currently playing Morrowind and really have the blast of my life. That's where my interest for Skyrim came from. Didn't realize that Skyrim will be an MMO, is this true? If so than Skyrim isn't for me. I guess I'm done with MMOs and its communities in general. MMOs need to be made for cassual players (otherwise won't succeed on the market) and that means will never have the depth and immersion that Morrowind has. Better graphics? Really couldn't care less (though I do have the machine being able to run them). I just want a good game and I already found Morrowind.

Ive been thining about taking Morrowind down off the shelf and giving it a serious play through. Its been many years since Ive messed with it.
And no, Skyrim is not an mmo. Doesnt even have multiplayer. Its just like all the other Elder Scrolls in that regard.

Finally some good news this evening.
Let me give a small hint to everyone seriously interested in Morrowind. This game is by far not what you'd called a "polished" game, technically seen. I needed a few days until I got it flawlessly running with its 2 add-ons Tribunal and Bloodmoon. Ther are enough tips and tricks on the net though. Another hint: Do yourself a favour and skip any spoilers you can get by (there are lots of them). If you are the explorer and patient type of player of course. If not than Morrowind probably isn't for you...
I intend to get it. It's about damn time Bethesda comes back to their signature franchise.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." (First Lieutenant Clifton B. Cates, US Marine Corps, Soissons, 19 July 1918)
Hopefully it is more like Morrowind than Oblivion. Also hopefully it doesnt feel like a console game.
They have beeen doing their demos on the Xbox 360 and there will be dlc exclusively for the 360 for 30 days. I wonder why...
They do the demos on the 360 because its easier to do 360 demos. But i've never heard that bit about 30 days between console and pc dlcs. Source.
exclusivity of offer or something like that.
I actualy read an article about Sony suing MS becuase of this. What MS does for a lot of titles is basicaly this: "You either release first on our xbox360 or your don't release on it at all". Now, thats a line they take iwth samller guys, and while it certanly won't fly with someone like Bethesda, they still managed to force them into similar situation with DLC's
That would be funny considering Sony used similar tactics to drown out Sega's Dreamcast and steal exclusives away from the original Xbox. Guess things always look different from the other perspective.
On topic: I do hope that Skyrim is more like Morrowind than Oblivion. I like Oblivion, a lot, but there was just something about Morrowinds world and story that made it seem more relevant. Oblivion is a much better looking game, but thats about it. Somewhere between improving the graphics and combat, some things that Morrowind had going for it were somehow lost.
Regardless, TES is an incredible series and I have no doubt that Bethesda will deliver yet another amazing game, I'm just dying to feel that sense of adventure and challenge that Oblivion seemed to miss out on.
Doesn't RAGE annoy any of you with the supposed stance against multiplayer? Sure they've split but it's gettin proved it ain't that hard.
Do you mean that they are keeping xbox players from playing with pc players? If so then it makes sense. Its not hard to have them on the same servers, its that PC players have an absolute advantage of the keyboard and mouse. Like others on this forum have said, they would have to give the 360 players a really heavy aim assist.

Actually i was a big advocate for PC mouse/trackball control but since i have a Xbox360 pad i now tend for pad control over mouse and keyboard, that is pretty much just used for Mo's,and most games now accomadate both methods even changeing UI's to suit pad or mouse so u could be on an even keel u certainly would if against me anyhow.

Right, I'm not saying its impossible for them to be equal (like in your case for people who use the pads), but most people who play games on PC dont use the gamepads. In my mind, it would seem people who are most likely to spend money on that stuff are going to buy a nice mouse over a gamepad.
Hopefully it is more like Morrowind than Oblivion. Also hopefully it doesnt feel like a console game.

Morrowind, though it did have its problems, was more epic in feel.
There also seemed to be a bit more mystery, more things to discover. For instance, I discovered the assassins guild COMPLETELY by accident. It was quite a surprise.

Agreed, Morrowind did have its problems. I think the visuals were a big part of that. Once I got wrapped up in the game and really discovered what it was, the problems didn't matter.
i discovered most of the things in Morrowind that way, thats part of that "feel" I was trying to describe. There were armor and weapons I stumbled across that I couldn't find again on a different playthrough. The sense of adventure was just unmatched, wandering into a strange cave or house I genuinely feared what was around the next corner. Every guild essentially had its own little epic story that was worth playing through.
Oblivion sytle: exit dungeon, open map, double click the fort icon, done.
Another reason for epic feel was that you didnt get location icons on your map for your quests. You had to ask for directions and follow them. And .... you could get lost ... a lot ... while looking for a mine which is actualy around a corner.
Ah yes, that's one of the reasons why I almost missed Morrowind. At these times I was stupid enough to think "newer=better" and tried Oblivion before even touch Morrowind but never really got into it.
My way to Morrowind went over Arena. Actually! What a mess playing an 18(?) years old title in a Dos-box on a modern quad core with 3,3 Mhz LOL! But even this ancient game has something I miss in modern MMORPGs. They all somehow feel like deluted hybrid Action-RPGs at best and seem to have totally lost the spirit of their ancestors.

wile I havent been a fan of elder scrolls im currently watching a playthrough of morrowind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3DChzMhgEE.
Im going to play it though definitely.
I cant really give much of an impression since there wasnt any preview gameplay to speak of.
Hopefully it is more like Morrowind than Oblivion. Also hopefully it doesnt feel like a console game.

I think this is going to be one of those games that there is so much to see and do.
Your skills get better as you gain experience, whether that is weaponry, spells, crafiing, etc.
It's also a sandbox game allowing you to be any combination of classes and characters-exploring everywhere! I love this concept!
Can't wait!

Maybe MMORPG could get their hands on this game and review it.

Going to be THE best overall gaming release of 2011, without a doubt, especially since D3 got pushed to 2012.
