I was bored and looking for something different. I had never played a Nexon game before but saw a video clip of the combat in this game and decided I’d give it a try on the spur of the moment. I walked in blind. I left with a feeling of having cake and eating it too… Here are my initial impressions and thoughts.
I didn’t have any problems creating an account, downloading the game (less than 2GB), or installing it. Like many others, it uses Pando Media Booster (boo / hiss). You might want to delete it from your PC after installing the game to prevent the program from stealing your bandwidth (from the control panel, leaves one registry key.)
Pros
Dialogue text can be adorably funny. The social emotes too.
Combat is fast and fun. It reminded me of Diablo (original) and would have served designers of DCUO well as an example of how to do mouse targeting with a PC interface.
The anime art is great while running with a not so demanding graphics engine.
Non-Intrusive cash shop. I think there is one but my face hasn’t been rubbed into it yet. I am still looking for it… LOL.
Cons
No option to customize controls.
Limited character appearance customization.
A lot of “gold farmer” spam.
Mixed
This game has twitch looting after boss fights for the drops. I am old and missed clicking twice. LOL…
There is actually a gift system to improve your social standing with NPC characters for perks. I am not sure where this goes yet so I am sitting on the fence.
The chat UI is still simpler to use than DCUO but it won’t see much use in combat as it requires you to exit mouse targeting. Not sure you really need to chat in battle for this game yet though.
Needs:
Needs an area gather command for loot.
Wish I could adjust difficulty where I wanted.
Early Bird Verdict: Recommended! This is a fun little lobby game with a lot of cuteness that can serve as a casual off game whenever you feel a need to whack something and not think too hard. I was very involved with combat. I spent two hours before I knew it.
I took three quick screen shots while playing and they can be seen
HERE.
Yeah. I named my character BadTaco... Don't be give'n me any beef you, hear.

Is nothing really problematic, just another possible (but not required) thing to do in game. After gaining friendship with npc (in most cases it requires completing some quest chains, only one npc requires having 100 gold), you can just give gifts to npc (gifts drop in dungeons anyway and giving them to npc is more profitable than just selling) and talk with them later. In exchange npc will send you some items (worth more than those npc gifts) plus some small additions ('hot' pictures of female npc).
It is general problem with chatting during combat, not only in this game. If you write in chat, you cannot use skills, so usage of chat is limited in instances. That's why voice chat programs are so popular in all mmo.
I personally was very reluctant at start. Never played non-targeting mmo, so i was afraid that it will require lots of keyboard/mouse smashing ;p but it happened to be rather easy to learn (well, some classes require lots of mouse clicking in combat). Combat in DN is usually just pure fun (well, after some time is not that exciting, but still not boring).
When it comes to the chat UI in games like WOW or any game with an auto-attack you could get away with some degree of typed coordination. It's something a player might want to be aware of going in.
As an action oriented RPG I actually enjoy the mouse targeting. It's not that hard to aim thankfully.
I forgot to mention that the classes are all gender locked right now. It is what it is. I noted a lot of archers running around last night.
I am looking forward to putting in some more time late tonight.
I started playing it lastnight and some more today, it's pretty much what I had expected - a poor man's Vindictus. I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way, but essentially it's the same idea with less demanding PC requirements.
In short, I think the perfect way to describe it would be if Vindictus and Lunia had a baby lol.
It does however do some things different and imo better than Vindictus though.
Most notebly would be in the combat department (recommend adjusting sensitive way up).
I've really been enjoying playing the Warrior class and using it's skills to air juggle mobs for 100+hit combos, any game where you can pull off those sorts of feats pretty much straight out of the gate certainly has some fun to be had.
I'm also a bit of a loot-whore, and i've been finding it's drop system satisfying (although it's free backpack&storage space is laughable).
Equipment drops are randomized (to a certain extent, since you will come acrossed duplicates eventually), the same items will all have different ATK/DEF/etc as well as have different side bonuses such Crit/Stun/Paralyze, or resists to the same things, and of course there is also the typical color rating of quality.
