Nice updates. We are inching closer and closer to release!
Nice! Loved the original Torchlight. There is just too many games coming out soon, I am starting to freak out a bit....
Hate to say it, but there are limited launch opportunities left for TL2 this year.
1) This coming Monday 10/17 - 10/24: They'd get 7 full days before 10/25 when BF3, Space Marine free PVE coop "Exterminatus" DLC and promising indie title The Haunted: Hells Reach will all launch.
2) Nov 1-10: Pre Skyrim launch window - this game will own the last half of November as far as sales go
3) Dec 1-15: This is the final of the 3 remaining launch windows for TL2 for 2011. This window is probably best as it's 3 weeks after the launch of Skyrim. This launch window will end abruptly with the all but guaranteed Friday 12/16 SWTOR ealry access launch.
If they want TL2 to both launch in 2011 AND sell, the prime USA launch date will be Tuesday 11/29. Otherwise, they better put it off until another favorable launch window opens up next year. But be careful, D3 could easily hit early next year. Personally, I think they took to long to get this title ready and the competition is definitely heating up as far as PC gaming goes.
Runic has a loyal fanbase, it does not matter what game is out their fans will go buy TL2 anyway.
True, I'll give you the fan base part - and it will only cost $20. However, Runic would also do well for their bottom line to consider luring in buyers that are outside of their fanbase. For this to happen and to gain maximum profit, they need to launch it at the appropriate time. Not all buyers can afford BF3, SWTOR and TL2. I can, as can many other adults with jobs, but the economy is still tight and they would do well to launch it at the right time during a window of opportunity. It just makes good business sense!
