EQ2/FF14/FF10 crafting?

gwbrewgwbrew Member Posts: 52

Looking for a good crafting game where the quality of the matieral matter during your craft..

So far I have found 3 likely games.. What are the Pros and cons of the EQ2/FF14/FF10

I;d love to say FF14, but Ive seen so many terrible reviews..I don;'t want to wait for SWTOR. I'd like to just start collecting and crafting unique items.

    SWG- no longer with us

Vanguard - good game but small community

Ryzom - just started to play this so cant offer much besides its an older game but the material has random values that effect the quality of items crafted (like SWG, which i like).

Eve online - not my cup of tea, but has in depth crafting

EQ2 - not a bad game at all

few more out there that offer worthy crafting but you will have to try some free trials. Also search other posts on this lf game forum, many posts like this with a lot of reviews and other games.

EQ2 crafting is basically a very mini game.  You do have to pay attention while crafting, because if your durability line runs out you will fail. So although this is much better, in most's opinion than say WoW crafting, EQ2 crafting can still get fairly dull after a while. However, EQ2 has A LOT of crafting quests. And with nice rewards too, such as Mounts, rares, recipes, etc.

In EQ2 the quality of the material doesn't exactly matter in the final product though... unless it is a different recipe. For example, you can make level 20 gear with the common level 20 materials, or you can make level 20  Mastercrafted gear with the rare level 20 materials... but all the gear you make with the common materials will end up the same everytime no matter what.

Okay I'm not sure how much sense that just made, but Overall I enjoy EQ2 crafting. You can even make a character that solely does crafting, I have a level 20 Brigand, that is also a level 90 Carpenter. All the Crafting quests are open to him even though his adventure level isn't caught up. Also, there are Rush Ordersd and Work orders you can do which are repeatable, that really speed up the leveling process.

Don't know much about the other games or how they compare.
