This has been an Asian MMO for years.

Monk class is always nice. Tho' I'd like to have seen Blademaster come in to play as well.

The pandaren started as a creation of the Blizzard artist Samwise Didier and an April Fool's joke, but they got a massive response from Warcraft fans. In the first BlizzCast episode launched on Jan. 10, 2008, Samwise recalled the process to the creation of the Pandaren April Fool's page: "But so we put that up in there and everyone was like “Oh my God! A PANDA RACE? That’s kind of cool!” And I’m like “Are you kidding me, really? You want to see pandas in Warcraft III or whatever?”" Soon, they were included in the Warcraft III expansion and Chris Metzen began to write them into the game lore. Due to this popularity, pandaren were rumored to be the new playable Alliance race to be introduced in the Burning Crusade expansion.

The Lore has been a running joke for years. They have nothing to do with Warcraft lore and were created for a laugh. WotLK got so big because it based on solid lore not some unknown stuff.

    HOLY SHYTE! lol

At this very moment myself and a room full of techs I just showed this to are laughing our guts out! :)

Oh if this is true Blizz has sunk to a new low and have officially lost all touch with what Warcraft once was.

Hell I don't care. I haven't played Wow in over 2 years. Old, out of date game in my mind at this point. It offered a couple years of great fun but went down hill so entirely fast at it's first expansion it was barely worth looking at anymore.

    You stay sassy!

Yeah i think it has alot to do with the fact that they know they will be losing alot of NA/EU subs to TOR and GW2.

I realize I am a sample of one, but as a former WoW player, this does nothing to get me back in the game, and in fact pretty much seals the deal that I am never going back.

WoW has always treaded a fine line between serious and whimsical, but this just pushes it way over the whimsical edge, into anime-free-to-play-marketed-to-15-year-olds territory.  Pet fights based on Pokemon, really?

It's actually a bit of an older joke than that. From artwork from other games. I got a calendar as a Blizzard promo item from Warcraft 2 era with a hidden panda munching on some bamboo amongst an intense orc v humans display.

Plus I played as a Pandaren monk in a Warcraft table top RPG game and it had a greatly fleshed out and varied lore established.

So it's not that hidden, just most people are paper thin.

I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

Just when I thought WoW couldn't get any "derpier", for lack of a better term...

It's crazy to think that WoW has been out so long that there are people on this site too young to even remember WC3 and how immensely popular the Pandaren hero was. I sometimes take for granted all the things I remember about games past, that new young gamers have no concept of.

Gaming history should be a mandatory high school class imo.

So many haters in this thread. Chill out mangs.

New talent system, only one race added to a two faction game, faction warfare, new class. I've yet to hear anything negative, and I for one am curious as to where they'll take this.

    Sarcasm is not a crime!

Eh these idiots-who-call-themselves-gamers now a days probably would want to know the DPS total for Pacman and refuse to put quarters in the machine until the third level ghosts were nerfed.

My jaw met the floor. I laughed, I gasped, I...didn't know what other emotions I should have felt.

I guess it's because of my disbelief of the leaks way back at the beginning of August and partly agreeing with the naysayers!

Do you guys really think WoW is such serious bizness that Pandas do not belong??

Lol that's seriously lol movement in a bad way.  Well but to be honest after flying rockets as mounts nothing will surprise me. Well this game was made for kids since WotlK, now they just stopped pretending, which actually is good, but well totally NOT my 'climate' so I will not touch it with 5 feet long stick lol

I like everything I hear (new class, side things to do) and see (updated graphics, looks beautiful and new)...Except playable pandaren and no main antagonist...if this was right after Wotlk it would've been ok, but after a lackluster lore expansion like Cataclysm...I was just waiting for Azshara. I mean I've wanted to see more focus on Alliance vs Horde, but adding Pandaren just makes it feel like a joke.

SInce it is a video game I don't know if it can do this.  If they can then World Of Warcraft has finally jumped the shark *facepalm*

I miss the old days of the laggy glitch filled days of WoW 2004 to 2007

just as a reminder.... "WARCRAFT lore"

guess who writes it down, surely not us :)

small hint: starts with a BL and ends with an IZZARD

ps: the "suited for people from the age of 12 and above" thingie might have been a hint? no?

why so shocked now? you knew what you bought.

So far, none of what they've announced for the new expansion has interested me, but it hasn't bothered me either. I couldn't care less about playing a Panda or a monk. Having a new continent could be cool.

Right now, what's holding me back is simply that I can't play a Draenei Warlock. Petty, I know.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

    They'll buy it anyway.

You could probably use a few grooming tips as well.

Chen's Empty Keg was a horde repetable quest for horde reputation in barrens in wow vanila, there was also some weapon of pandaria in vanila too.

This. I cannot stand Pandaren...but they've been part of Warcraft before kung fu panda existed.

I can understand people hating on Pandaren since they think they're a kiddie race. However why the hate for Monks? If this wasn't WoW I'm 100% postive they wouldn't think it was stupid.
