Well, I'm not Chinese, nor am I a twelve-year old girl so pandas are worthless in all aspects, not enough to drive me away from the game on their own, though. (Took the talent tree rape for that.)

I dislike Kunfu or other such nonsense as well but yet again, it's pretty irrelevant.

all i can think of.. is it must be silly season.. Pandas...that do kungfu... blatant plagiarism maybe, i know pandarens are a lore race from warcraft, as they were members of the horde by all acounts, making them able to join the alliance seems a bit of a cop out, but, to me, the whole thing reeks of being a 'cash grab' will it add anything to the game, maybe.. it won't be adding me however, unsub and uninstall incoming.  im getting too old for this..... and by that i mean i'm over the age of 12.image

My problem with pandas is that they are to realist to fit in an heroic-fantasy world.
WoW setup is dungeon&dragon and tolkien ie: a medieval world filled with magic, orcs, elfs, goblins, dwarfs etc.
When at look at MoP a don't see it as a unknow land to explore, i think "hey, it's China". I have the same problem with Uldum though, you're not in Azeroth anymore, you're fighting nazis in Egypte.

Well, if we can have space goats than we can have panda.

1 thing I like is that you're able to choose horde or alliance after level 10? Hope more games give you this options. And maybe this time blizz will add betrayer quest in wow ^_^, for pandas only ....

Pretty sure that the pandas were meant to be the alliance race, right when burning crusade was at the beginning of developement. They were meant to balance out the lack of animal race in the alliance, where blood elves were to do the opposite for horde. This idea was ditched due to a possible massive backlash, and so they tore up the lore, and introduced the drenai, with some half-assed sci-fi storyline, whilst adding a still, vaguely animal, aka space goat to balance out the races. However, i really think that blizzard failed to see how the lore, which WoW had done well of sticking to, created a bigger stink with the drenai, than the panda class. However, they got away with it. Now, i have not played wrath or cataclysm, although i got the impression that the devs were trying to take WoW in a darker direction. Well, as dark as you can get in basically a fantasy-lite gameworld. I don't know how successful they were, as i lost touch with the game. However, i heard some stuff that got me interested. More involved storylines and quests with wrath. That cataclysm had caused players to roll new toons because old zones had been changed due to some cataclysm. If this is true then i would be curious as to what they actually did. Were the areas i was familiar with destroyed, and changed? Or was it just a way to open up an under water area? Anyway, if they were trying to darken it, isn't this new expansion just trying to add some comic relief? I hate the idea of the panda race, but can see that it is a blatant rip-off of the kung fu panda success. Why else add the monk class, and they can say that the pandas are sticking to lore. I actually love the pokemon rip-off and thought they would have done something like that ages ago. So it looks as though they are trying to lighten up the game. However, it is surely aimed at the kid market. Unless the next expansion is something a lot darker, then its player base is going to be aimed more and more for the kind of people that enjoy films like ice age and shrek. Nothing wrong with those movies, just want a darker game. I know WoW has always been comical in theme, but it was toungue-in-cheek. Don't think i could stand it if they sugar coated it. As in turning it into a family friendly, shrek/kung fu panda world. Just hope it's light relief before some dark future expansions, as there is bound to be a WoW2 somewhere down the line. Before i get trashed, i know WoW has never been a dark, 'adult' game. But it never tool itself too seriously and wasn't a u rated purely kiddie game either.
