Untill now i never bought any game that needed DRM.
But becouse im a long term follower and huge fan of Elder Scrolls i desided to try it ones and what HAPPEN.
Steam got hacked and i can't play Skyrim for GOD SAKE A SOLO GAME.
OMG i HATE this this is last time i ever buy games even remotely related to steam/origin or whatever HELLISH gameportal or DRM system.
Nice Bethesda you sold yourself to STEAM DEVIL:(
I always bought my games legally and this is my punishment hehe.
50 euros and i don't have any controll of game zero nada nothing bah:(

This is my first post here ever, despite having been a member for a few months. Mostly I just read the threads and what not.

EDIT - Realized this was actually my first post.
Yup, you pre-ordered the game bud. Try downloading it on Friday and everything should be fine.
I LOL'd at this.
Also, my guess is that if his account was hacked and he's unable to log into Steam, he most likely won't be able to play on Friday also unless the issue is resolved. Hopefull the OP will follow proper channels to get his account back.
I would like to think the same thing except he said install and "not" play Skyrim. I'm also not really sure what all the Steam hate and DRM crap is about. I have several games on steam that supposedly had DRM/Cloud and I am able to play every single one of them with steam in offline mode w/ no internet on.
It was the Steam forums that were compromised, not Steam itself. The forums have nothing to do with your Steam ID either and there's also nothing to suggest that usernames and password for that site were accessed. It looks more like a valve employees forum account was hacked and used to post the messages about the cheating website is all that happened anyway.
Lot of people just immediately start wailing about hacks and viruses when anything goes wrong. No wonder they're paranoid though. All this crazy modern technology can be pretty scary when you don't really understand any of it.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
Well the Steam Forums have been apparently hacked.
To the OP:
We should have the option to pre-load the game in a day or so via steam, for steam users, the game opens Midnight EST on Nov. 11th, so if you're west coast, you'll be able to play at 9pm.
You dont get my point lol.
Its my first game ever i bought with steam account becouse long term fan of series and for ones i wanne try it then with steam.
But this reason why i HATE STEAM, PS3 players can already play it saw it myself today NO ACTIVATION needed but me PC gamer also pre order the game but i can't play.
For god sake its solo game i should as i done countless years before BUY GAME and play no bloody activation through steam becouse 11-11 lol i dont have any control over my own game anymore ZERO NADA nothing.
If its whining fine i dont care but for me its reason why steam and all those who inflict DRM on games should be boycot by all PC gamers.

ya holy crap, steam sure does suck, making you wait till teh game releases to play it, man, its just insulting to make you wait till a game actually releases to play it.
Also after all those drmed games get boycotted have fun having nothing to play.
Every game you have on steam has drm, steam is drm.
Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling"
Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.
Who cares i BOUGHT GAME RETAIL why should i bloody wait i pre order it, SAME AS PS3 and prolly XBOX360 players who CAN PLAY NOW on 8-11-11.
All you guys realy dont get it do you omg people are so easy ensalved by all these companys its real sad:(
For now it cost me 50 euros with DRM over past 12 years i play PC games, but its already my LAST one lol.

The game officially releases for all platforms on 11-11-11. If you saw someone playing on a PS3 then they were playing a pirated version ( which are already out for ps3 and xbox i believe).
So unless you thought you would be able to play the game a week before it actually released you got what you paid for. And as far as steam goes you should be able to preload the game and start playing at midnight on 11/10/11. Steam actually letting you play earlier than if you waited until 11/11 and went and bought a boxd copy.
Maybe I am missing something but I dont see what your complaining about.
Just for effect- THE GAME IS NOT RELEASED YET.
Hope that helps
As far as I know you can still cancel the preorder until the game goes live. Steam policy.
Get your money out of Steam and buy a box version.
Problem solved?
Better to be crazy, provided you know what sane is...
Yea, the OP is getting ZILCH in the way of my give-o-damn meter.
1) Complaining that a company sticks to a release date (ZOMG *GASP*)
2) Forum hacking on Steam does not seem to have anything in common with hacking of Steam. I highly recommend people reading up on this before just screaming ZOMG HACKED!
3) This post should be closed as what the OP REALLY wants is to gain a game early. Grow up, learn some patience, relax. Buying a game early is wrong. Torrenting a game early is wrong. As such, should not even be discussed on this site.
Never used steam myself.
I still prefer a box, installable dvd's, and if collectors box, the artwork, soundtrack etc.
Internets can go out, websites hacked. Having a hardcopy always makes sense.
So I'd say stick to your gut next time and go gamestop instead of steam...
The OP claims to have a retail copy of the game. This thread will get real interesting when he finds out he can't play Friday either because his copy is pirated.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
It wouldn't matter where you purchased the game. The PC version isn't available until 11-11-11. If someone has a version for the PS3, then they got a copy from an employee of a game store because the stores have copies right now, they just aren't on the shelves.
Your 'problem' has nothing to do with Steam.
** edit **
Just checked a bit on availability. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are available for purchase now. The PC version can only be preordered. You cannot walk into a game shop and buy a box copy of Skyrim right now for your PC.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
We get your point, you don't get ours: it could be a lot, lot worse.
Take a look at the DRM Ubisoft uses. You need to have a constant Internet connection to even play, and if your Internet connection shutters or Ubisoft's auth server goes down and your connection drops, the game forcefully boots you out and you will lose any progress as it will not save.
With steam you can activate it once, set the game to offline mode, and you will never have to login through steam to play that game again. As far as DRM goes, Steam is one of the least invasive methods. If you're complaining about Steam, believe me, you would be howling if it was one of the other modern and overly invasive DRM on the market.
Yes he is correct.
You can get a full refund from steam until the game releases. So get your refund and go buy one of the PS3 or Xbox versions you are so keen on.
Sometimes reading these forums really makes me worry about the future of our species. > sigh<
Steam do suck with singleplayer games. Sometimes you can log on while off line, sometims not.
I actually considered downloading a pirate version of CIV 5 even though I own it on steam because I bought the game to play it when I am riding train and similar and sometimes I can but often not. Yeah, I could get a mobile net but I really don't want to.
Anti piracy gets annoying, not for the pirates but for the honest people actually paying for the stuff.
Steam shuld really stop the idiot idea that you need to log in to play, besides that it is fine and OPs complain seems weird to me since the game isn't out yet. If he can't play it in Friday things are different though.

It's not really anti-piracy. It's anti-sell it used.

Oh, so that's how you do it. I never knew. But it's still kinda dumb how you can't go into offline mode when you're... offline... unless you've prepared for it. Or maybe there is a way but I'm missing something?
<childish, provocative and highly speculative banner about your favorite game goes here>
Well only people as stupid as the OP can hate this godsent platform...You pre-ordered the game buddy, steam didn't get hacked, their forums did which use vBulletin and are irrelevant to the client. The game is not out yet, sit back and relax.
