Knights of the Old Republic and The Sith Lords.

So far despite all the threads over the past few weeks leading up to early access and launch ive barely seen any mention of these two great games.

Seeing as The Old Republic is the spiritual successor to KOTOR and in some sense, Biowares attempt to satisfy people who wanted a KOTOR 3 (would have been glorious) has anybody else here actually played these games or at least looked into them leading up to launch?

For any MMO player interested in the lore its a great place to start to get an understanding of Biowares Star Wars world set 4000 years before the Galactic Empire. Its also a point of interest due to one of the main characters, Bastilla Shan being the ancestor of the main character in TOR, Satelle Shan (woman on the cover with the blue lightsaber). The Twilek slave companion of the sith warrior is also voiced by the same woman who voiced one of your companions, Mission Vao in KOTOR, which may or may not indicate a relation there.

The Korriban you experience in KOTOR is also very similar to TOR's experience in terms of trials and attempts to gain prestige of the Sith Masters.

Its a great way of getting prepared for the launch and experiencing Biowares lore, it seems a shame that most fans of TOR seem to not even care about it.

I have KOTOR1 haven't really gotten far into, however I have read Deceived, Fatal Alliance, Revan and Red Harvest. I know red harvest doesn't have any real ties to Bioware or the game but it was set in the old republic era. All pretty decent books with some good background in my opinion. I do want to finish the KOTOR story at some point because the Revan novel really got me curious about everything that happened to him previously.

I really want to read that novel because when i heard TOR was going to have a rich storyline my only concern was what happened to him/her (i played both).

I play through them both every few months or so. IMO, Bioware has done a great job of preserving the look and feel of KOTOR in this new game.

Which, IMO, is something that people who complain about graphics aren't taking into account.

The problem is i expected most people to acknowledge this was the spiritual successor to KOTOR but it seems not a lot of people actually realize this isn't Biowares first time in the Star Wars universe.

    Blasphemy!

Haha not really, Sith Lords gets a lot of stick for being incomplete and not as successful as KOTOR but it was still a great game :)

I think every rpg fan should play KOTOR 1 and 2. Brilliant games!

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

KOTOR 1 & 2 are great, even though the second wasn't a Bioware production. From an art direction, I get more of a Star Wars: Battlefront, and the Clone Wars Era(not the cartoon, the movies) vibe then a KOTOR feel from it. From the Droideka inspired bots to the dress of the smuggler and particular the Trooper class in general seems to emphasize the more 'modern' feel vrs an Old Republic feel to it.

Some things remain constant though like the general design of Sith Capital ships and the gray/black design of fighters to the robes of Jedi and Sith. I know why they did it, and general ok with it.
