Remember how Blizzard used to be?

I certainly do. Hell, I remember loading up Warcraft on DOS. I remember the significant hype of Warcraft II, and when my friends would talk for hours on end about Diablo. I'll be honest, I never enjoyed Diablo! I respected it, but it just wasn't my thing. I remember when Starcraft came out, and I saw the intro movie with the Space Marine. The hype of SC: Ghost. Then I remember the release of the World of Warcraft, and suddenly everything changed. No longer was it that little company that I used to know. Blizzard, Interplay, and the obligatory crappy Ubisoft games. Anyway, Blizzard became an industry powerhouse and everything they were pretty much died in my mind. *cue sad gaming nostalgia*

Well, now Bioware has decided to try their hand. I can't help but sit here and ask myself the same questions. What do you think will happen? Is this the end? Have we been on the steep decline already? Losing what they were, and changing into whatever they will be? Gone are the days of Neverwinter, and now we will rush in the era of Dragon Age and Mass Effect. Is this the case? Is it a good thing? What do the rest of you think?

I'd also like to mention that the old Medal of Honor games were awful, and those are what I always think of when I see Call of Duty. I know that has nothing to do with what I'm talking about, but I'm going there anyway.

*edit* Also, I probably could've written this in the general gaming section. I don't know what I was thinking. If it gets moved, that's cool with me.

When Titanquest released I was pretty impressed with it. I love peanunts covered in chocolate. Weather is crap here at the moment. I wonder when Swtor will be in the stores here.

I always saw that in my store, but I was too cheap to spend the $5. I read mixed reviews, and didn't want to chance it!

Yeah Bioware used to be an instant-buy for me but now its hit or miss. I thought Mass Effect was a good shooter but it was missing a lot of the little things that made Kotor great. Most of the "choices" you made werent really impactful on how the game turned out story wise. Another game that often gets overlooked is Jade Empire, which I thought was a very well put together game. I hope Bioware doesnt end up like Blizzard, where they try to appeal to the mainstream gamers, but it seems thats what is happening.

It doesnt matter if its a good or bad thing, fact is that the older gamers stop playing and new generation get used to different style of games. They "familiarize"  to the changes or better "get"  familiarized. Just normal.

But main stream is where the cash is, not with the hard core gamers.

Is why I think more and more that SWTOR is not made for most of the people who post here but for the casuals that don't even bother with boards. Will be interesting to see if that works.
