It really depends on what game it is. Most likely I'll buy a costume or weapon that puts me apart from everyone else. In Gundam i of course "rented" a gundam because I didn't know how to buy at that time.

Edited: Just a note - option for "dont buy anything, but continue play the game" = Buy a pizza

option for "take a hike somewhere else" = trip to Paris!

    :)

I'm willing to purchase content updates. (areas, races, classes, etc.)

XP potions on a rare occasion.  (Especially if a game has "hell levels".

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

I'm willing to buy things such as cool looking uniforms, stat resets and maybe an exclusive mount. Something that will either set my character apart or really help me in the long run. I refuse to buy any sort of EXP booster, as any game so dependent on grind that it needs one clearly isn't worth my time.

Not a dang thing.  That's how they get you.  The game fails, go to cash shop and try to milk the consumer for more money than he's worth.  This guy I know paid 15 bucks a month to a game that failed and went f2p with a cash shop.  Well in order to be productive and successful in the game he needed to spend money for gear and crap in the cahs shop.  He ended up spending 600 bucks.  So going from 15 bucks a month to blowing 600 seems crazy, but all these companies are just trying to milk everything they can from you before they close down the servers once population drops to nothing.  Look at the asian f2p...they just throw together the same mmos with differnt names.  They all look the same.  But some knucklehead like my friend will blow money on the stupid cash shop.

Cash shop should be appearance items ONLY... or at least 90% where the other 10% could be newbie power up sets and some quick grind items, nothing like major exp boosts and items to make you invincible. These items shouldn't be useful past mid-level range as that is when skill really starts to develop.

True enough. I, for one, love the idea of spending hundreds of dollars to look different than everyone else, despite the fact it will provide no edge to me whatsoever.

I mean seriously, wtf? What draw would there be to spend? If balanced as to not be completely OP, cash items NEED to have some gameplay benefit, as in taking less time to level up, etc. Otherwise, I'm not gonna spend money to look different than others if it provides no gameplay-related benefit.

After a few days and not so many votes, about 60, i found that most of us, or abandon the game or will buy something that won't make a diference ingame. is this real? Honestly, i hope so. This shows that players still want everything just right it was before.

It is quite well known (numbers/research has been posted before, search old thread or use google if u want more precise info) that only a small minority of players ever pay in a f2p mmo. Most players pay for free.

People dont want old sub games, they want free games.

This, you can pay $$$ to unlock more content/playable heros etc but you can take awhile to get the hero you want to play for free if you are willing to spend the time, and its fairly grindy that way but its the option to play for free. You also get easier access to runes and such that have a small advantage but again its just faster, you gain anything you can buy (with the exception of cosmetic skins) without paying $$$ at a reasonable pace. However this isn't an MMO its a DOTA style game so its in a different class or pardon my pun, league.

  • @ the OP: F2P would be an ok thing if MMOGing companies weren't so gawd damn greedy! Do you know what I mean? It's like...

"Oh...you want to be able to run in the game? You can buy a scroll of Free Sprinting (7 day) in the Cash Shop for only 301 Tard Nickles!"

"Oops...you've reached lvl 70 and you just realized that you screwed up your build (like we knew you would!)? Don't worry...head on into the Cash Shop and buy yourself a Scroll of Re-Do. Only 1,902 Tard Nickles!"

"OMFG! I have to kill 500,000 of these ugly-as-shit blob mobs just to get from lvl 100 to lvl 101?!" "Well, you don't HAVE to...you could just buy an XP Potion (3x XP for 2 hrs) for only 853 Tard Nickles!"

    Etc., etc., etc..

I use to think the F2P model was the way of the future...boy-O-boy was I wrong! In order to enjoy the game you'll wind up spending 5x as much as you would in a P2P game.

Looks like I'm not alone in my belief cause I am the majority! I don't buy items that enhance gear or gameplay in general cause I refuse to support that model of F2P. I buy Things that make me look different from others and let me stand out of the crowd. Example I spent the most money ever on F2P league of legends and it offers nothing to allow you to dominate someone else. I also feel like I got my money's worth and if I wanted to I wouldnt spend another dime. OFC I will though, I NEED EVERY SKIN, MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!

"People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool."

    leve the game...

I miss LOTRO, I loved playing it, it was great and played for ages, but when the FTP came it, the whole feeling of the game changed to much for me, it just wasn't the same great mmo anymore.. so  I left..

I did keep trying to stay with it, but the ftp was to much and really cheepened my experiance with the game.. I miss the old LOTRO.. :(

    Pets & Mounts.

But ONLY if offered a wide variety, reasonably priced, and can be purchased with a game card (not credit card online).

Speaking from expirience.  I would not recommend this mmorpg to anyone anymore because it's got some serious game glitches now and I quit playing - Mabinogi.  I was the most impressed with their f2p game shop over any I have ever seen.  They sold and sold and sold to us an endless supply of pets and mounts and mount-pets that were soooo cute.  I spent well over a $100 and I'm still happy I did it even tho I've left that game.

I totally want the pizza and a trip to France. On a more serious note, I buy mostly cosmetic stuff if the game has an item shop. I did buy a ton of IP boosts in League of Legends though.

There is nothing special i would buy, if a f2p game manage to keep me more then 2 months i start throwing a little money theyr way.

Competive p2w games is a no no, its way to expensive to stay with the top dogs in those games. so ill never play those games.

LoL is the shop i have used most money on except my 1st encounter with f2p where i wasted a ton of money. Thankfully i learnd my lesson there.

Only buy what I have to buy and that's ONLy if the game is good enough, which so far, they aren't.
