This has that same winning friendly community you all know and love from wow. No matter how good it is community is the most important thing, to be honest I really should not have even bought it when I heard the lack of commen social features it has stuff as basic as intergrated vc and guild banks. Anyway this is another one the 20 year old rude grown kids have runnined at least for me. I will be sticking to eq2 till eq next and secert world come out. If your a wow player you may love this game as its not bad, but if your a mmo player that maily loves the social side of mmos like myself save your money this will be a total waste for you. Oh I long for the days of mmos before gamecards so fewer little bastereds in them before then lol.

i havent had a bad social experiance at all. Most of the people ive met have been more then willing to help out and answer a question if they know it.
i had the one instance where chat turned into barrens chat in a way with some of the chuck norris crap but other then that the community so far has been quite pleasant when ive had to deal with them
Im not gonna say that others haven had a bad experiance with community i personally have not hough. in wow usually if u aska questiong u get told go away noob or the delibratley give u bad info to make u get lost.
i havent had that happen once in tor yet.
I try to find a mature guild in these times and turn general chat off. Tis the only way.
May the force be with you.
i also have all chat channels off. there is no reason at all to interact with anyone in this game.
my friend and i play and use our companions to do all heroic quests and all the dungeons. we literally dont need to ever talk to anyone ever.
so basically im going to paying 15 a month for a single player game. thats why we are trying to get through all the class stories before the free month is up so we dont have to pay a sub for a spg
Ok. Take care now.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
I closed my chat window after the first 3 hours of gameplay. ...was the most awesome part of the game up to this point.
I understand your guys point totally I could turn off all chat channels. However for me I play mmos for a social experience, and with no good gen chat, no in game guild vc or grp vc so it will be used in pugs I just do not see myself keep playing after first month. Thats just me though everyone likes different stuff, and if this was not billed as a mmo it would be great game, but its an mmo so for me its just not the one.
Stop blaming WoW. The maturity of players has nothing to do with one specific video game. It has to do with growing up in a generation where parents don't pay attention to their kids and kids spend so much time online being anonymous asshats because there are no reprocusions.
You will not escape from these "kids" because they are everywhere. You only notice them more in game with larger populations. They are proportionally the same. Games with 100,000 players may only have 10 or so vocal asshats. In a game with 1,000,000 you end up with 100. The effect is exponential because the larger the population the more likely it is that their will be asshats in the same area in which to feed off eachother. Which is why the capital cities or major hubs in many games are filled with trolls in the chat channels. If there are only 10, odds that some of them will be in the same place at the same time is less likely than if you have 100.
So don't blame WoW because kids are bad. Blame their parents and a society that promotes anonymous asshats.
I never got why the general chat antics in MMORPGs really upset so many people.
it used to be all Chuck Norris jokes, now it's all "I took an arrow in the knee" jokes. Personally, I think they are funny sometimes, many are dumb yeah, but general chat is like having a joke reel streaming down the page while I'm playing.
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
We used to blame "b.net kiddies". Before that, I think it was Counterstrike players.

Play on an RP server. asshat ratio is far better.
I do blame parents, but good devs can create in game features to make communitys work together more. IE mentor systems, guild voice chats, guild rewards.
Love Chuck jokes. Jokes are not really what I am speaking of. PS: What happens when you kick Chuck Norris in the ballz? Not a damn thing as steel does not break!
hehe briliant!!!, you made me laugh in rl
just stick to rp server should be to your liking!(to each its own)
Try a better server then and to my shock i've yet to met even one kid on mine so far.
I did try an RP server did not see hugh difference. Anyone want to suggest a good server?
I have seen only one so far on my server. Popped into a PvP match at level 12 and started barking orders, then got all upset when the Valor level 30-35 people corrected his very bad directions. He spent the rest of the match with lips flappin obsenities until the rest of us had him on our ignore lists. After that it has been rather peaceful.

LOL . My favorite new "general chat" joke was:
You got adventure problems I feel bad for you son. I dodged 99 arrows but my knee took one!
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
You know, I think this phenomenon is really just the "Revese halo effect" in action. In other words, we see one poor representative of the community and assume the whole thing must be terrible.
I've had a few bad experiences as well, but by and large, folks on the game don't seem that bad. It's not fair to judge everyone as horrible because some idiot was spamming obscenities in a BG match.
The only game I've played that honestly, truly, 100% had a terrible community was Heroes of Newerth.
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
At first your post didn't even make any sense to me. But then I realized that you might be on a bad server. On The Jekk Jekk Tarr server I can't remember seeing really any childish or rude chat messages. The server has a lot of older gamer guilds and lgbt friendly guilds. It's probably in the top 20 busy servers. Every server is not filled with the same types of people.
Actually, now after reading this, makes me wonder just how bad some of the other servers are. O______O
And is it me or is almost every sing post in the current forum activity about SWTOR? Did WoW, Aion, DCU, and GW2 all fall into the ocean?
You almost had me until I realized that WoW players can't afford a computer that can run SW:TOR.
I'll give you an 8 out of 10 for almost making me believe you.
MOBA games always had the worst community, yes, worse than MW or CS.
I still play it, also LoL hast the Tribunal, even if it doesnt work, you at least have the illusion of justice and the satisfaction on clicking "Punish!".
LOL. The computer I had 3 years ago could max out WoW and the game still looked horrible. That's when I quit :
Its not that WoW specifically produces these idiots but rather that, because of the huge populations that more popular games obviously produce you end up with a greater number of idiots in a given channel. And since these idiots are both louder than normal people and encourage each other in these antics, the result is a type of force multiplier of stupidity. A virtual Lord of the Flies scenario.
Where do these kids (and by kids I also mean adults that act with all the mental capacity of the socially stunted adolecent life they apparently never out grew) come from? They come from parents who don't bother to raise kids capable of normal social interaction. They come from parents who park their spawn in front of a TV or a computer and somehow hope that it will substitute for the more challenging activities of substantive interaction, caring, dicipline and interest in the lives of these little people.
Now, masses of these uncivilized, bepimpled, neo-barbarians find their way onto and into our games and forums and what little civilization might have existed there gets overrun and razed to the ground by Chuck Norris and arrow to the knee jokes.
All die, so die well.
And get off my lawn!
