logitech keyboard cutting out

hi,

 

I have been having issues with my logitech G110 keyboard, it keeps cutting out sometimes the backlights turn off and only the keyboard power light stays on but keys are unresponsive  or the lights all stay on and the keys are non responsive.

Othertimes I press a key once it will type it 20 times then cut out only way to fix is to unplug and plug it back in.

 

I am running a gigabyte 770t-usb3 MB

4 gig corsair ddr3 1600mhz dual chan ram

amd phenom 2 black ed quad 3.2ghz

gtx460

running win7 64 home

thought it could be a power issue need new psu anyway put a enermax naxan 550w.

Also thought it could be usb controller issue so i updated drivers hasnt fixed it.

It cuts out during gameplay or idle and is really starting to get to me, is there anything else i should try or is it time to throw the keyboard at a wall and buy a non logitech board?

Its about 1 year old didnt do it to start with and no hardware changes since apart from a ocz 120g vertex 2 ssd.

running latest logitech win7 64 drivers.

    Throw it in the trash and buy a new one.

    haha thought it prob going to  be the case got any ideas on a good board that isnt going to have the same issue for around $100- $150?

    For FPS gaming I'd make sure to get one that's of the tactile kind and not linear (brown/red/black switches). For MMOs linear is fine, and black/red switches are excellent. I use steelseries 7g (godly wrist-rest). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CvKCuTE2wE

    Fact: Nearly all keyboards sold bundled with computers or at retail stores use rubber domes under their keys. This is the same technology used in cheap TV remotes. They're made to be as cheap as possible to manufacture in order to maximize profits. Yes, this even includes "high end" keyboards. So why settle for something that is made as cheap as possible?



    So Why do YOU want a Mechanical Keyboard?

    For most people it's all about the feel. With the keyboard you're typing on right now you've got to press the key all the way down to the bottom to get it to register. This wastes a lot of energy and causes fatigue, as most of your effort is spent pushing against a solid piece of plastic. Mechanical keyswitches are designed so that they register before you bottom out, so you only need to apply as much force as is necessary to actuate it, not wasting any. And with as many different types of switches as there are you can pick and choose which one you're the most comfortable with, as each one has a different feel to it. And most people who try one can never go back to using rubber domes, as they realize just how "mushy" they really feel.

    I just had the exact same issue with my Logitech G5 laser mouse! and i finally got fed up with it and threw it out and just bought myself a Team scorpion X-LUCA mouse for $35 bucks same features as the G5 if not more lol

    It could be a few things really.

    Do you have another pc to try it on? If so plug it in and just type gibberrish into notepad and see if it cuts out. If it doesnt its a faulty usb controller on your mobo. It could also simply be the cord/connector, has the cord been twisted at the back out your pc or your desks feet been squishing it?  Or maybe even the keyboard itself is faulty. It wont be the psu if your not seeing anyother problems like your entire pc switching off randomly or getting massive fps loss in games.

    If it is the KB itself best bet would be to take it back to the store and try and get a replacement or store cred towards something else.

    thanks for the reply's guys,

    I was just looking at some mechanical boards and wondering what the go is their so thanks sPWN. Starting to play fps again even unsubbed my mmo's so maybe I am due for a new board anyway.

     

    pretty sure it is the keyboard my setup is no tangled cords are no where near feet as i have a huge desk and tower sits on top of it. Doubt it would be the usb controller as i have had 0 issues with my wireless 360 windows controller, usb 7.1 headphones or mouse.

    Might ring logitech directly on monday see if they will do anything bout it, and buy a new mechanical board.

    unsure out of the two i have no idea about all the response times ect and which are gimiks,

    steel series is out of the question as i need to buy from this site because of reseller acc and they dont stock it.

    Both are terrible choices. First of all, Razer keyboards are known for their bad quality and this one is no exception. After 2 minutes of google searching I found plenty of problems with the keyboard and people punching themselves in the balls for giving Razer another chance. Then you have the Corsair keyboard which apparently isn't even fully mechanical, which makes it pointless to consider. Plus their switches are linear, but perhaps it comes down to preference. I personally would not use linear for FPS.
