Character reactivation.

NinelNinel Member UncommonPosts: 40

Hi all. I'm thinking on returning to Vanadiel, since there is not a serious alternative game for me. I deleted my old char in a master fury rage before unninstalling time ago. I'm seeing on the official site there's a char reactivation program that allows to retrieve deleted characters but it's not operational. Anybody knows since when? Any clue of back to work? Thank you very much.

Honestly, just start over again. The game is much, MUCH easier now than it was before. You'll be back to where you were in no time at all. I'm thinking about re-subbing, if you'd like to join me I'll be on the Phoenix server under the name Stimpack.

I've just got an official answer. I share it with you all.

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

Unfortunately, we do not have a date for the character recovery service to be back at this stage.  It will not be active until all customers have completed the migration from the PlayOnline accounts to a SQUARE ENIX Account.

Please refer to www.playonline.com for further information on the service, and updates on when it will be active.

    Kind Regards,

    SQUARE ENIX Support Centre Team

Same thing happened to me. I lost my old character and my account. Luckily according to a good friend of mine with a little help it will be easy to reach level cap once again. The hardest part will doing the genkai quests and missions. The actually leveling will only take a little while for someone with experience.

I remember when this game first came out, you were given three months of inactivity and then your characters were deleted and you had to buy a new game.  Plus an extra 1$ a month per character you made.  I don't know what it is with Korean based MMOs but they have the worst pricing system.

Not Korean!!! Square Enix is 100% Japanese.

That it will be, as I've read on the FFXI forums that finding help without offering up 100k gil or more nobody is willign to help you do anything anymore.  Abyssea has ruined the community!   And the worst part isthat gil had become rediculously easy to earn for one well versed with Abyssea, and there really is no reason for it, because the best gear is all from NMs and such in Abyssea and then you make them better through the Magian trials.  Really there is very little need for gil anymore, besides spell scrolls, food and arrows/ninja tools, etc

I've considered returning many times, really only to get to lvl 99 so I can go back and finally complete all the storylines I could never find help for.  Shouldn't be a problem solo at that lvl with certain jobs.

Anyway, if I were playing I'd help with genkai quests in a heartbeat, cause I've always enjoyed helping others progress in XI ~ 'the community' made the journey through Vana'diel excellent, but sadly SE have destroyed it with Abyssea!

Well Krymson I guess I am lucky. I still have a good friend that plays and he is willing to help me with the genkai quests. Plus if I get my other PC setup I can just use his character(s) to help get me through the quests even if he doesn't have time. If you were seriously looking to get back into the game, let me know in a PM. Even if I can't convince my friend to help you with the Genkai quests I would help you once I was able, no charge lol.

I also want to go back and finish things I wasn't able to finish before. I did almost all of Bastok, Zilart, CoP, and ToAU storylines previously but didn't finish some of them, mainly I just got access to areas like sky and sea. So first leveling to 99 will be my priority, he said without genkai quests you could do it on a weekend. Then  I want to finish all storylines, all the while doing abysea to keep my gear at least decent.

I want so much to come back too and finish all the quests ans missions. I am a bit advanced in storyline and it'd be a huge pain the ass the start all over again. I feel so dumb of deleting my char! I hope SE activates the program soon. If anyone gets news about it please post.

I tried to resub about a month ago, but SE's customer service is just the worst I've ever experienced. I had my password for my SquareEnix ID, I had my security token, but I lost the password to my PlayOnline account. Went through their customer service to try and recover it.

They wanted a crapload of personal information. The address/phone number I had at the time I opened the account. The reg code I used to register the account. The credit card number I used to open the account (which long expired and I no longer have). I provided with with everything but the credit card number, then they tell me they can't give my my information over the phone or internet.

They actually demanded I fax them a picture ID to recover my password. If that weren't bad enough, the people I spoke with were rude as well. I called by phone and was told to email the information they requested before being hung up on. I emailed the info and was told they can't give me a password via email. The email told me to call or use their web chat tool and reference the case number they gave me.

So I used the web chat tool and gave them the case number from the email. I was told in web chat that they could not give me my password without the information they asked me for. I gave them all the information again and was told to fax a copy of a picture ID and create a new ticket before abruptly being disconnected from the chat tool.

So I just said "screw you" to their customer service and didn't resub. Filed a complaing with the BBB (which didn't do much), and went on my merry way.

I have been thinking about trying the game out again, though I have not played it since it first came out. Ive been hearing mix things obviously you need a group, but is it worth comming back? Always liked the multiple job system's thought it was a great thing, but not sure how the elitist attitude is towards newbies now in days?

Thanks, but if I came back I'd reactivate my old character, of the Fenrir World.  I think it was a lvl 77 Paladin which are kinda useless now as traditional tanking just doesn't exist much anymore.  I do have Blue Mage at lvl 61 though, so I'd probably continue playing that job as its very powerful and could easily solo stuff at lvl 99.

I think the biggest thing thats holding me back from playing is Abyssea, because I only have the first part unlocked, and even though I could get the other 2 for as little as $10, I'd rather not.{I already have 10,000 Crysta or $100 invested in gametime from the FFXIV launch that I'd rather use, and not spend more money on SE at this point}  Thus I'd have to lvl solo or in a small group doung grounds of valor inside one fo the various dungeons to get lvl 99, which I believe would probably take quite awhile.   Not that I'm in too much of a hurry...I just don't know if I should bother playing again or just watch the storylines I havn't completed through videos instead!

Just an update. After finally getting ffxi installed and ready to go on my windows 7 machine and after spending hours trying to find a decent name only to have one that isn't very good I was finally able to get in and play. For those of you who used to play the game should be extremely easy. I was just kind of taking my time and strolling around and I was able to get to level 13 extremely easy in just a couple hourse.

Make sure you use the field of valor if you're soloing and pick some mobs that drop decent drops. Or you can just rely on crystals for early levels. So far the only thing holding me back now is I have about 25k worth of stuff on auction and I need it to sell so I can buy some new gear and food. Then I should be able to blast off to level 18-20 pretty easily before doing the sub job quest.

Wow, sounds quite a bit different than the last time I logged in.  I remember back in the day when I was trying to level solo in the wee hours of the morning and all the international groups were full.  Those average mobs became nightmares.

I'll probably have to go check this game out again.

Love Guild Wars? Final Fantasy? Harry Potter? Lord of the Rings?
Here is an excerpt from the new series:

Its changed considerably over the past few years, but most recently the lvling curve from 1-30 has been reduced, plus there is no death penalty.  Starting at 31+ there still is, but it too has been reduced.   Still though, I've always liked the loss of XP death penalty as it really made ya think when ya died, "not gonna do that again, or be better prepared next time" and such.  Also the XP earned from decent prey and higher was substantially raised through the entire game...

    There are of course the Fields of Valor book quests that are unlimited now{used to be once per game day or about 1RL hour} only now you only get gold and tabs each hr, but will always get the bonus XP for completion as fast as you can do them.  There are also Grounds of Valor for select dungeons, but I do believe most have them now, similar to Fields, but you can chain them and multiply your XP earning if you don't leave the zone. {I quit playing before these were implemented}

Unfortunately the lvl 18 SubJob quest, as well as the lvl cap Genkai quests starting at lvl 50 are still there, and if you're a new player, its damn near impossible to complete them unless you have a HL friends willing to help, or pay another player 100k or more gil to do it for you.  This is one thing I hate that SE for doing...basically ruining the community with Abyssea, making gil extremely easy to get which turned the community on each other...not many are willign to help anymore unless you pay them...le sigh

  • k11keeperk11keeper Member UncommonPosts: 1,048

Yes xp per mob has increased a lot. I think back in the day easy prey gave 36 xp at the lowest now they give 90. Even match used to give 100 now they give 200. So if you find easy prey and decent challenge you can easily get 90-180 xp per fight. Plus like you mentioned the fields of valor is continuous now and you don't even have to return to keep it going.

As far as the death penalty goes I didn't even notice it went away. Lucky at level 21 I still haven't died yet. Also like you mentioned the sub job quest is impossible to get at 18 now without help. At level 21 I have 2 of the items needed but to get the skull I will need help or will have to get to level 24-25. I can kill the ghouls now but I have to use my 2hr to do it. So if you can get some help it will be a sinch. Another thing is gear isn't as much of an issue now. I just get some of the key things like weapon upgrades and such. In all honesty anything else is a waist because you will out level its use faster than it would take to go back and buy it.

One thing to mention though is that new players are not treated well. People have figured out what you need and have screwed with some of the prices of things. For instance the food needed for the chocobo quest is insanely expensive now. It pretty much wiped out everything I had saved at that point. So before you head to Jeuno to do it make sure you have some gil on hand.

I bought the collectors edition on Steam awhile back for 4.99 I cancelled sub and havent played for a long while. Do I need to rebuy the game? I don't remember any of my play online stuff. Setting up a subscription for FFXI is so confusing to me.

  • SatimasuSatimasu Member UncommonPosts: 900

Nope, but if you don't have all the Abyssea add-ons, you might as well buy the Aybssea collection. You'll get a nifty hat in-game out of it.

I think I just enjoyed leveling in this game more than endgame at all honestly. If i was to compare how many parties/meripos/jobs I've leveled compared to the time i spent doing endgame I would just shock myself. I dabbled in assault/nyzul but never really had the time to do any form of scheduled event. After abyssea, leveling became an afterthought and with the itroduction of atmas and proccing the game effectively alienated 80%+ of their jobs other than MNK WHM BLM BLU WAR. From what i hear with Voidwatch the faceroll atma's have been put to past but the proccing and alienating remains with an updated cool story bro class list expansion of COR and BRD. Im all down for full scale events but from what i hear when i mention the word current endgame i hear this:

    1.VW

    2.VW

    3.VW

Which is fine but on top of this i hear that VW NM's are simple a proc spamming fest or your dead because of the absurd AoE rape/status effects each NM has.
