What Addons do you use?

BathnorBathnor Member UncommonPosts: 137

Hello everyone. I just started the free trial of WoW and  will be picking up the full version in the next day or two. I was just wondering what Addons you use for WoW , what they do and why you use them. I know there's a lot of them and am looking for ones that will make the game better for me. I play on a PvP server if that makes a differance.

If you dont like the default buttons/UI then grab bartender (http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/bartender4) removes blizzard UI completly and lets you add upto 10 hot bars, position, size, alpha etc all you like.

http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/bagnon - combline all your bags into one big one

Ok back when I did play I used Bartender, Paranoia enemy alert, Compass, Xperl unit frames, Auctioneer, Atlas, Bagnon, Quartz, Outfitter, Dr.Damage,  and anything else I thought was useful, but as long as I had paranoia and my hotkeys set I was good to go. Paranoia was a gemstone for world PVP not only does it show the person who is nearby or who just went in stealth it allows you to tab them on alert. But I hanged around Tarren Mill alot.

These are the ones a played comfortably with:

Bagnon: Improves the inventory system by turning all the bag panels into one big panel. Also adds colored borders to colored items so they easier to see in the inv.

EquipCompare: May have been put into the game by now but it compares items with those you have equipped so you can see the stats of both at the same time.

MikScrollingBattleText:  Adds much better floating damage numbers and highlights where the damage/heal/effect came from (as in which skill). Lets you know what has been used on you by your opponent as well. All the fonts and such can be customized.

OmniCC: Simply adds a numbered cooldown to actionbars instead of using the analogue cooldown 'fader thing'. So you know exactly how many seconds until your skill can be used again much more easily.

Take All Button: Adds a take all button to the loot window, I found it useful.

Auctioneer: Scans the auction house so you always know the current prices for things on your server. Also improves the auction house interface with options such as 'undercut competition by 5%' or something along them lines. Great for a new player to get the prices right and saves tons of time searching the auction house prices yourself for things you want to sell.

You shouldn't need more than that as a beginner these days. As for ones to aid you on a PvP server.. not an area I'd know about really.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

recount - a must to measure dps

playerscore - useful to quickly see if a player is wearing pvp gear in a pve group of if he is undergear

mage nugget - well i play a mage, this helps with showing you your spell power at all times

    gathermate2 - for mining & herbalism

auctioneer - much better auction interface (since u can search items much easier)

dottimer - track DOT and debuffs and CDs

petleash - randomly call out a pet. I have 100+ pets, so this is very useful

gogomount - randomly call out a mount.

    omen - track threat

i am sure i am still missing some .. but those are the main ones i use.
