I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.
I'm 1 step away from buying this game, but i'm afraid to pay $40 and realize the game is not what i wanted it to be, besides the critics dont help at all.
The game as lots of interestig points expecialy crafting wise wich seems to be the main focus of the hole game, wich is great because i love crafting, Terraforming looks interesting as well and the fact of it being a self evolving world shaped by players is exciting as well... but i also love combat, mounts, player driven economy, all the good things that a sandbox mmo as to offer.
After reading the Featurs of the game on the official site, i came upon this:
Future planned features include:
Carts
Revised skill gain and decay system.
Improved quest system.
Comfort based on weather conditions and clothing, affecting most actions.
Tribe totem decay and undead invasion.
Ranged combat.
Cooking with player created recipes.
Animal taming, pets and mounts.
Agriculture.
Dance system.
Religion
New content: armor, weapons, items, containers and creatures.
Well after all this time after realease they only added the carts, that makes me think that the game will be complete in 2020 at best, and the features i like akot as well are on the midlle of that list (ranged combat, mounts, taming)....
I think they should give players a free trial imo...
BTW nice work on putting this videos up for ppl, really love the way u explain things and its one of the reasons thats making me think to buy this game Thumbs Up
The "Future planned features" was recently updated for the next developement cycle,. So it reflects what is planned for the next year or so, it does not reflect what was planned to be implimented since launch. Of that list, carts have been under developement since november (which invovled at lot of tinkering with collisions and thats why it took longer than planned ) and the next big thing is Totem decay, which is currently allready being tested on the test server in an infant stage.
Critics who bought the game, played it for a month at launch and discarded it seem to all be experts on how well the game has been doing for the past 10 months, which is funny but doesnt really give a fair picture of it all. Incidently a free trial is in the works on a seperate server, the reason why trials are not available atm is that its rather disruptive to the game world if everyone who makes a trial can dump a totem and start terraforming.
The number one issue a lot of people have is the pace its been developing at. They will generally say stuff like, "the developers are lazy" And "this game will be in a playable state in 2020". Well what they dont realize is that since launch they have had to do a massive clean up job to their code which is due to the mess that was left behind by the previous team. So while we havent seen a lot of results, the team has actually been working on this game quite tirelessly. Personally i think the pace is about to pick up a notch.
Finally, if you like building unique and amazing structures Xsyon definately delivers a lot to the table, everything else is sadly still below standard but Its getting better.
If you are looking for a crafting and building game. Xsyon is perfect. Its got some polish needed but its coming along great.
If you are looking for PVP warfare, PVP, PVE, Raids, and just really any type of PVP or PVE, you might want to wait a few months.
Building up the world around you, terraforming, walls etc. All is a lot of work and fun.
Economy is hard thing to work out, and IMO Xsyon's econ is lacking big time. But its getting better. Resources based on regions are starting to come into play a bit more.

PVPers PVEers wait 3 to 6 months.

Suggesting pvp warfare and raids (wtf), will be in within 3 to 6 months is pattently absurd. Then again, given the fact that you've been spouting that exact line for months now, you seem to have about as good a concept of time as Jordi does.
NG simply does not have the talent at the moment to add such content to their game (See combat upgrades). They're too busy adding more inventory space to your character, and making mechanics that will only see use when players quit the game (See zombie spawns).
Economy is indeed a tricky thing to work out. Fortunately for sandboxes (or unfortunately for this particular sandbox), they have the privilege of shifting a lot of the importance from things like fun and playability to things like the economy and novelty of mechanics. Xsyon is the case where importance was shifted from fun and playability to purely novelty, with no regard given to econom. That shows.

I'm not sure how me saying wait 3 to 6 months is wrong thing to say. You wait a few months check to see if I'm saying wait still or not.You telling me its bad advice? They shouldnt wait? Or are you saying I'm just stupid for saying it at all?
I'm saying wait because clearly PVE and PVP are not ready yet and unlikely to be ready this month or the next.
I think so far the only sandbox I know that got it really well done for the economy is EVE Online. The economy there is great. However, I dont think fully that system would work here. I do like how they have the areas set up as progressiving more risky and harder areas with PVP yield more rewards. I think that's a major key Xsyon is needing.
When I read your post it sounds more like you are upset with the devs instead of having a bias opinion about what is going on.

An 8 minute video that shows 5 static objects and the size of each cart's inventory.... holy smokes.
At least the incredibly slow development time allows the art department to put out pretty solid work.
Nice Vid. I lol'd at the rat fight

Slightly old, but I lol'd at your comment.

So TL:DR
PVPers PVEers wait 3 to 6 months.
Crafters Builders Great game.

Think ill wait a month or 2 then ill give it a try, with some luck the price may drop a bit :P
