No it couldn't wait until Thursday. The game was seriously unplayable for some people. A couple of guildmates couldn't stay connected for more than 15 minutes without disconnects.
I'm glad that those people got a prompt fix instead of having to wait an entire week from when the issue started to be able to play.
I guess you guys that were inconvenienced for 8 hours or whatever it was couldn't care less about other people though.
prompt?
They waited at least 8 hours to apply the fix so it could happen during US off-peak. Hardly sounds like they were taking it that urgent.
The problem from what I see is that they made EU also wait 8 hours for the fix so it happened for them during saturday morning/afternoon

Hmm . . . morning and afternoon should still be off peak in the EU even on a Saturday. If it isn't I would strongly suggest going and getting some friends. Now if they were offline at 6 pm to 11 pm, then I could see your point. As it stands, I really don't understand your problem.
Besides, if they had waited until Tuesday to fix this then people just like you would have been jumping all over them for doing that. Either way they couldn't win, so they went for the lesser of the two evils and decided to live with people complaining because they actually fixed something.
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"

you may well think saturday daytime is off peak in the EU but it is not. Most people in the EU do not work saturdays or go to school.
But the main point of my post was that this was a serverside patch only and there was no point delaying the EU downtime until the US off-peak (middle of the night, early morning.. not daytime)
The irony in this all is.. it made it worse if anything. I have successfully gone from limited disconnects to more frequent ones. For instace, as a Guardian if you force leap on the bridge in Voidstar for some reason this shit game often will shoot your camera out to outter space (cant even see your character) and log you out to character screen.
Glad I just cancelled my subscription. Bioware did great on the PVE story aspect of the game, but the PVP and end game has more bugs than most closed betas.

I said it on page 4.. They didn't fix anything.
The disconnects to the character select screen are still happening and, judging from the number of complaints I saw in General last night, have gotten worse..
I really can't understand those of you who are defending BW's decision..

its an invasion of these guys.. what do you expect
Yes but that priority should be Tuesday even if it was 10% of the playerbase which I doubt it is nowhere near.
You have 10% affected for a few days longer or you affect 55% during peak times (thats the EU numbers BTW) I'll let you do the rest of the math.
Right
I'm sure if you were one of those chaps you would definitely feel this way. Totally. Completely.
Probably would even come here to praise BW for not fixing it sooner because you would be fine waiting that long. Why should the many suffer for the few? Most definitely.
Anyways back on planet earth: Seems to me those players have been getting rather hosed with this issue. Been going on for a while now unless these are unrelated incidents. My understanding is this still didn't fix it for them. Would imagine most of them are probably just going to cancel at this point. Pretty sure I would have by now.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
I guess it sucks to inconvience me to support those players who are getting disconnected. I guess. I know where I would stand on the argument if I was getting disconnected.
Pretty much.
But most here don't bother and only care if it effects them directly. If it isn't affecting them they complain and say it can wait until whatever day they feel is best suited for it to get done.
>_>
If it is affecting them...well...gosh darnit...better get fixed right this minute!
Of course, since BW didn't actually fix anything...there's that XD
