Low Level Armors that look just like High Level Armors.
Items with set-in-stone stats that pollute the auction house. Randomization is the future.
Huge Name Tags that give your position away (PvP).
Being able to tell what level your enemy is (PvP).
PC Gamers who have no idea how to fix or maintain their computer.
Cartoony games that have big system requirements.
Male characters with girly features, e.g., perfectly plucked eyebrows, silky baby-face skin, emo hair, etc.
Cocky Developers who honestly don't have a clue...
Black Characters that really just look like Super Dark White Characters.
Borderline-Fraudulent CGI Trailers that look and play NOTHING like the game.

Hey, leave my girly boys out of this...
Very good list. I particularly liked (and agree with) the name tags with PvP and showing levels and PvP. I think you could prevent a lot of low level character ganking if you do not allow players to see each others level or class...
A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true...
And let's not forget about the "Epic" armor that doesn't protect anything at all. This can stay, though :P
Hah. There are stereotypical 'black' features in that game as well as 'asian' ones; this is one of the 'white' heads.
Are you saying they should have restricted skin colour based on the head model you chose?
^
I uninstalled the game. I just picked a picture from Google images. However, the problem does plague most MMOs.
Gear that makes you look like clowns
Bosses so big your puny group could never realistically defeat them
Playable characters that look like children
The Matrix Online (and probably any other movie franchise)
I totally agree with these two!
Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure.
huge name tags needs to die. Seriously in most games I see only walking names and tiny little character models underneath.. so terrible.
I chuckled, great thread. Post more!
^ at giant bosses
With the traditional tank and spank mechanics yes. Especially gnome or similar tanks standing up to gargantuan super monsters that would realisticly squish them by just poking them with their little finger.
But a raid taking down a large monster is ok http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13xbhz2il5M
Agreed! Now this attempt at humor is a SUCCESS! Well done OP. Love the pics!
Yes what a farce it has all become. Just had to log on to say that if someone were ever to make a decent sandbox mmo that just wants a monthly sub with no BS I might even play mmos again.
For me they've become a complete and utter joke.
Pandas, really? Pandas?
that was a straw for me, Morrowind modded up is f'king awesome btw.
I do not see a problem with big bosses, but instead with big "human" bosses... ...why is that lady 14 ft. tall? Isn't she consider a normal person lorewise?
Nor do I see a problem with kid character models, they are people of all ages in the games themselves, how come I cannot play them? I would find it fun to run around as a 3 year old, a 30 year old, or a 90 year old and games generally give you a window of maybe early twenties to mid fifties looking characters. Ok maybe not 3, but 8+ ish.
I agree with everything in your post except for this one. Computer gaming should not require also being a computer wiz.
Funny stuff.
Lol, good stuff.

Remember that WoW bugged where it would make a players name so huge, you could see him leaving the AB entrance?
That was always pretty funny.
It does not.
Well at least no more than any other electronic thing.
You can buy PC with warrantly for whole PC and if something is not right ,give it to service to fix on warranty , like with TV or console.
BUT
if you build your pc yourself then you should not basics - kinda logical

Agree with rest.

As for race / face / color thing.
Yea games need more 'types' of faces BUT you should not lock color to face type.
There are plenty people with caucasian face features but very dark skin as well as people with african face features but relatively bright skin. (not to mention that afican face features can vary greatly and many native africans look NOTHING like stereotypical big lips / big nose / etc face type).
Same with varuous Asian / Arabic face types.
Justg more face types ,not locking type to color.
You're playing an elf, casting magic spells and riding a unicorn. It's too late to worry about realism.
There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.

battlegrounds, scenarios, arenas whatever you want to call it, instanced PVP that is a timed match and is trying to ram a FPS square peg into a MMO round hole
Excellent topic. I fully agree to all of them, especially the first 2. I think most of us play MMORPGs so we can be a unique individual, and that's gotten lost in the loot with MMOs. Everyone is after their class tier 4, then 5. Why does a particular class have to wear this or that armor? Heavy or light? Why can't we just have a character, find randomized stuff and say,"I want my character to be fast and throw knives, so I want XXX weapons armor and statistics! Oh, look at this nice randomized ring I just found! It has everything I'm looking for! How lucky am I?" And who doesn't want to look unique? Who wants to look like Power Ranger number 259 on the server? Give us the customization we want, dyes, various clothing and armor types, weapons.
People still play Diablo because of the randomized loot. I can't understand why MMOs don't do it. PvP? Too bad loser! You need to go get lucky on a drop if you want to compete!
Battles that look like this.
Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.
Great list and I'll add a couple myself.
Tiered loot progression.
Best loot available only running with 87967 other tom's, dick's and harry's.
Instanced PvP
Instanced PvE
Phasing
Boring quest treadmills that hold your hand from level 1 to cap.
Quick leveling, leveling should take months even at a hardcore pace. Theres plenty of content to fill the void inbetween the long levels.
faction based pvp systems
mediocre crafting
cities used as the ad hoc meeting place, the capitol city needs to die and in its place a much smaller set of towns and hamlets that offer differeing services.
flying mounts
small worlds that can be ran across or traverssed in a matter of minutes. It should take me 3+ hours to run from one of a world to the other as the bird flys.
lack of player housing that can be made/purchased/built where ever I see fit.
classes that are homogenized
the notion that ranged classes should somehow be superior to melee classes.
the holy trinity. a very small percentage of players play tanks and healers most people want to play dps so make all classes dps and offer differing methods of agro managemment and self sustainability.

Best MMO of all time: Asheron's Call - The first company to recreate AC will be the next greatest MMO.
One thing that needs to go is the "Gear Grind in PvP". I don't mind it in PvE, doing Raids to get geared up for the next Tier of Raids. However PvP should be a battle of skill vs skill, not gear vs gear.
