Skyrim Features That Didnt Make It Through The Final Release

Before releasing Skyrim, the team was allowed one week to add ANYTHING that they want with Skyrim. However, these additions didnt make it through the final release. HOWEVER, THESE ADDITIONS ARE AMONG THE BEST IDEAS I HAVE EVER SEEN FOR SKYRIM!!! Take a look!

^The GAME JAM is about 20mins into the video. The frames are better (the youtube vid was edited to avoid copyright issues) plus there is the remix which suits the video well.

After reading the comments there have been so many people speculating that the reason these features didn't make it through the game was because they cannot be implemented to the console versions of the game.

 

Anyhow, Todd mentioned that some of these MIGHT be implemented on their DLCs.

    Seasonal Foliage


    Trees drop their leaves in Automn,are without them in Winter,flourish in Spring...


     


    Waterflow Shader


    A shader that removes the hard edges from the area that water stops and dry land starts,like in Crysis.


     


    Spears


    Self explanatatery.


     


    Magic Killcams.


    Cutscenes for when you finish an enemy with magic attacks.


     


    Assassin View.


    Special shader that makes you spot assassination targets easier.


     


    Guards Lighting up unliten torches.


     


    Paralyze spells


     


    Various Dungeon gameplay mechanics like moving platforms,other kind of puzzles...


     


    Water dungeons with current water flow.


     


    Dark Dungeons.Self explanatatery.


     


    Improved followers.


    Choose their combat style,decide their favourites.


     


    Adoptation.


    Adopt an orphan child.


     


    Build your own home.


     


    Spell Combination.


    The ability to combine two spells of differet kind (e.g. health restoration and fear) to come up with a brand new effect.


     


    Goblins.


    Known old enemy that also was in Oblivion.


     


    Waygate Fast Travel.


    Instead of fast traveling through a menu,they thought of placing special portals around the world so you can fast travel from portal to portal.


     


    New Mounts.


    Mounts other than horses.


     


    Mounted Combat.(Including Dragons)


     


    Soulbug familiar. (A huge bug that follows you and helps you)


     


    Kinect Shouts.


    Yell to the microphone and have your character yell a shout.


     


    Underwater Shaders.


    Effects for the movement of currents and waves,bubbles,and other things you would see if your character was diving.


     


    Footprints on snow.


     


    Ice and fire arrows.


     


    Werebear.


    Form player can get.


     


    Lycanthropy skill tree,complete with perks.


     


    Vampire Lord.


    Play as ancient vampire lord,with completely new character model with feathers,tail and horns.

    I really wanted the dark dungeons feature, requiring you to have some sort of light source available.

    It would really add to the atmosphere and feeling of dwelling into a dark, long forgotten place.

     

    I hope there will be a mod for this.

    sounds like your standard pc fanboy whining, anything negative must be because of consoles, yup they didnt add spears because consoles couldnt handle it /sarcasm.

    PC fanboys need to learn to, you know, blame the people that make the game instead of a hunk of plastic.

    True, I don't see how any of these features could not make it on consoles.

    Sounds like some kind of joke, because the statement just lacks logic.

    Why wouldn't features like building your own home, adopting children etc, not be possible on consoles?

     

    I think the real reason is simply that they did not have time to implement all these additional features.

    And some of them were not that important to begin with.

    Also, many of these I am sure will be available as mods for the PC version.

    Listen to the video people... These features didn't make it into Skyrim because none of them existed before the game was finalized for production. The team was given one week to do these things after the game was already finished and sent to the publishing department at Bethesda. After the game is finalized no additions are made as it's already being prepared for shipment to retailers.
