Karpyshyn was the principal writer for SWTOR. That's not a connection, BigDaddyX? O.o
Connection as in he quit because of SWTOR and somehow it speaks volumes about the game? a very vague statement so yeah i don't see the connection here.
What does it tell us he quite because SWTOR sucks?
Hellen Kellar can see it though.
Wasn't she the SWTOR graphics designer?
At the last minute, she changed the graphics from 220 grit to 60.
its funny how hard some ppl look for ways to connect a person leaving the industry and trying to prove a game is a failure. You guys really think he would be let go??? Bioware is known for their stories and if anything whether SW:ToR failed or not isn't because of the storyline. If anything this is one of the staple points for taking your time instead of trying to hit lvl 50 and thhen complaining about lack of content.
He's the second one that has left Bioware since SWTOR launch. A pattern or blind chance?

This happens all the time, before, during and after games release. The industry is incredibly fluid. Unless he gave specific or even veiled comments against Bioware, you haven't a foot to stand on in regards to the implications.
Or let me spin it this way, its business. EA needs to save cash, ME3 is wrapping up, so the writers for ME3 an SWTOR are now both sitting there. So managment figures, hey, lets consolidate both teams, put the ME3 lead writer in charge of both teams. Saves money no?
12 years working on SWTOR, leaving after the first quarter since launch.. okkkkk.
Yeah, to focus on doing his own books and work, go figure. Not once did he put down the company or give any indication at all that it was flopping. He went so far as to say that he's very proud of what he and Bioware have done and that they will continue to be the award winning story oriented game developer into the future.

As someone who has worked in the industry, I can tell you what happens quite often:
"Hey there guy. So, any thoughs on your plans now that the project is over?. Yeaaaahhhh, we were kind of thinking you might look at working on some personal projects. mmm hmmm, and we were kind of thinking you would do it somewhere else.
Hey, lets keep it civil. We say good things about you and you will do the same."
And here we go... The writing is on the wall and people know it. Time to get out before it starts getting really rough. Sad really but this ia a growing trend with EA with failed mmos.

I do not think anyone expected him to put down the company after all his "retirement" package has to be pretty nice.
my guess would be he bailed because they asked him to finish what he started. he should be sued for leaving the game in the state that it is in now. but with him gone gives the next guy the chance to make the game right and gut the garbage and put in some real content.

You're making nothing more than assumptions with no facts or even allusions to the truth. Most developers when they leave on shaky terms, will state that as a fact. This guy didn't even make any innuendo about having issues with the company.

Lol. Spin is the right word, dreams another. You're trying to hard to make it into another doomsday prophecy, but in the end it's still just baseless speculation or maybe wishful thinking -_-

Right... so, let me see, the fact that Jeff Strain, the head honcho of ANet, left the company and the GW2 project after years being busy with in its last stages of development, in the same sense of warped logic means that there's something seriously wrong with GW2, right? I mean, if important people leave a company while a high profile game is in development/just launched, then this can only mean disaster and doom. Did I do it right?

Says who? I've seen more than a few comments made by developers who left on bad terms or were asked to leave by the company and most of them may not have ranted about it, but they didn't keep it a secret either. You guys are a bunch of paranoid conspiracy theorists or even worse, plain jane TOR haters with nothing better to do than grind the rumor mill.
Main project just finished. He probably got a very nice bonus so he decides to quit to work for himself wrtiting his own books on his own time. Sounds great to me. Everyone is always so negative.
SWTOR (main project) is finished?
How ironic of a statement.
Skipping the innuendo, if you're familiar with multi million projects or even smaller ones, it isn't that strange. Developers and project team finish a project and provide the deliverables and product, doesn't mean that afterwards there's no further development, but the project team has done what was required of them. There's a difference between development trajectory and the maintenance and support stage, not that odd in software development projects.
Pragmatically, I thought that the main writer of a game would be asked to continue his work for future updates, instead of quitting the project.
If you were a director, had a main writer working for you during 10 years, and he was part of very successful projects, would you really want him to be gone after you just released your biggest game ? Especially in a continued work environment like MMOs ... ?
I'm not saying this has to be true, just that it's legit to have doubts in this case.

Guess you miss the point of one quarter into launch and the product is finished, are you kidding me?

Well the writing in SWTOR is not the issue...so him leaving doesnt mean anything. You are all really reaching on this one. Now if the person that designed the walled in zones retired at 41 have at it.
Comments

maybe the guy just ran out of stories so time to retire or move on.
The double standards are killing -_-

SWTOR is first MMO of Bioware so it could be very well the 'main' because companies are not known to make multiple MMOS right?
