A Positive Thread

I quit playing SWToR 3 or 4 weeks after I got my "early start" invite.  I was playing as a BH, which was pretty fun.  Once I got to Taris, I stopped having fun; initially, I blamed this on Taris itself.  It seemed like that's what stopped me at the time.

Fast forward a month / month and a half, and I resub to play with a "gaming community" I'd played some other games with.  I rolled a Republic Trooper.  Now, I've played a LOT of mmos, never once as a tank.  So I went Vanguard once I hit level 10.

I am having an absolute blast now.  The people I played with at launch, while they were "friends" of mine I'd played WoW with, were mostly RL friends.  They sped through the content and were way ahead of me by the time I got in.  They talked about stuff going on at home.  The group I'm with NOW, well, we talk about beer and other great things in life.  We have PvP nights for lower level folks.  And I tank FPs, which, formerly foreign to me, has become a source of immense fun after playing a ranged DPS for, well, forever.

I might be alone in this, but I doubt it.  Simply changing the group I was playing the game with, combined with totally switching up my gameplay style in an mmo, has given me a refreshing new perspective in SWToR.  And it makes me happy in the pants.

I'm hoping this could be an inspirational story for some to think of how and with whom they play mmos.  This being MMORPG.com, I doubt it, but hey, if this old angry bastard can be a changed man, maybe one or two others can be enlightened as well.

There's a definite difference in the way people play now vs. during the first month.  During that time people would steal quest objectives and resource nodes right under your nose.  You could tell there was alot of people in there who'd been around the block a few too many times.

So if they're done with ToR and spending their time here pissing and moaning while the mods salivate over all the negativity, that's a positive for the game in itself.  It's just surprising that of all websites this is the worst one for talking about actual gameplay.

i would agree that who you play with can affect the amount of fun you have in a game.  i don't think swtor is a bad game, im just not into that type of game atm.  i will probably check it out again sometime down the road.  glad to hear you are having fun!

    I've got the straight edge.
