I'm just wondering if they are going to have some kind of "Epic Quest" in Guild Wars 2. In Everquest, getting your epic (which is the best weapon for your class in the game) was a very big accomplishment. I mean the quest could take months to gather everthing to complete the quest. In FFXI They kind of have the same thing, but its called Artifact Armor or somthing.
These items are nothing to rush, it takes time, and it gives you a since of self accomplishment.
Anyway whats your thoughts on this?

You have your personal quest line, that's for sure. Beyond that, no idea.
I may be wrong because i havent played Everquest, but that sounds like grinding to me, and Anet said they dont want grindign so i donth think they will have quests that take months to be done. Also there are some epic figths vs the dragons and his servants, these battles are in the open world and everyone can join, also wen defeated the dragon will leave a chest with things to everyone who battled with cool things that some would call epic.
Yep, that sounds like a great idea. They had it also in Daoc. It started in the form of Epic Armor, then years later they added an Epic weapon becauase epic armor became inferior to player crafted gear.
But, again I read the above post about limited grinding in the game. I dunno, I think the days of using the word "months" in an mmo are gone for now. Though having to work months for things might someday come back as a norm. But right now I think the trend for companies is to just get them leveled up as fast as possible hehe. Which I don't happen to like. I like quests/goals to take a long time as well. It really makes you appreciate the time leveling and making in-game friends. Mostly now people are rush leveled by their buddies.
Anet wants the best items to be available to you, no matter what you do. Whether you get them by crafting, dungeons or WvWvW, you should be able to get equal equipment. There is difficult content (dungeons and elite events), some of which award you with better looking equipment, but not with better equipment.
In GW2 everyone is a winner..that is Anet's philosophy.
In GW2, there are always a variety of ways to earn the best gear. It's not that there is no disparity in quality of items, because there is, but there will never be just one way to get the best gear stats for your level/profession/build, though there may be only one way to get particular weapon and armor "skins". (For those who don't know, it's easy in GW2 to merge the stats from one item with the look of another of the same type).
Also, it should be noted that the power curve on gear is a lot more shallow than in most MMOs. Another important distinction is that once you reach the level cap, it won't be too time consuming to assemble the best gear possible and there will not be some endless gear grind with greater and greater stats via escalating tiers of "end game" content.
For those looking for some epic series of events that culminate in some Epic gear, I'm going to guess that one way to eventually attain top tier level 80 gear will be to successfully complete the entire Personal Story. There will also be healthy rewards as you wind through the story, so those who dedicate themselve to the personal story, utilizing other content to fill the gaps along the way, will not feel that their access to gear has suffered due to that focus. (There is not enough Story content to level to 80 just doing the story, but it can take up a fair amount of your time if you do chose to make it a focus. Also, it's a branching storyline with the path being personalized right from character creation and taking other forks in the road along the way. This is not a game where each class has one story that all others of that class share, essentially, from start to finish).
We do know there are achievments in the game and some of them will provide tangible rewards. Also, some of them will require some real effort over an extended period of time. Will there be "Epic Loot" associated with any achievments? I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me. (Just remember if there are such achievments with such rewards, they won't be of a power level that can't be obtained via other means).

Except in the PvP half of the game. And when you fail events and dungeons. And in WvW, you get two losers for each winner.
Losing is still on the menu. But so is true cooperative play. Ooh, the dichotomy of it all.
Failing events still comes with a reward. It may be less than when you win an event (although I don't think that's certain) and the consequence of failing the event will be bad for the npc's in the world (failure to hold back centaurs could cause them to take over an outpost for example).
There really is no "quest" in the traditional term. You pretty much move about the land and find things that are happening and do those events (which are exactly like quests).
Also all level 80 gear is statistically the same no matter how you get it, they could however make a long epic questline through the personal story I guess that gets you a graphically cool looking weapon...but that is all it will be is cosmetic with level 80 stats tacked on as they do not want gear being a factor in equal level fighting.
