Just wondering if anyone else got this email. Seems a little desperate to me. Though it's probably a smart move but it's going to take more then a 6 dollar discount to convince me to buy it.
pretty sure everyone got it since it only applies to the digital edition bought through them directly. ie they still make more money with the offer then from a person buying a boxed copy from some other retailer.
Yes this is desperation...you know, offering a better deal to the potential buyers who are playing in CBTs.
It`s not a smart marketing move or anything, if I was a company, I would not do this to try to make more money, screw trying to give people another potential reason to buy the game.
I am going to cancel my amazon pre-order and buy from them now, saves me money.

6 bucks off is a potential reason to buy the game? That's not even 2 gallons of gas. Thats not even the cost of the junk food people buy before starting a long MMO grind night. =P
You would be surprised how a deal can influence people...
People will go to any means to save money, I know people who only buy things that are on sale or are for a deal, never at regular price because they know it will go on sale at some point or they can find it on sale somewhere else.

That's why I called it desperate. They are pandering to cheap people to get as many sales as possible cause they know they can't rely much on the sub fees. I also love the added "inaugural pricing plans that offer up to 40% off monthly subscription rates." OMG, they are offering annual subs for 9 a month!! It's almost like I've never seen that before.
You wonder why I question if you`re trolling or not, this thread and your responses are just fishing.
Yes SW:TOR did this too, and look how well it worked, makes sense EME would do it, you are not charged right away and can cancel anytime before the free month is over anyways, so it`s not like they are expecting a downright payment.
Anyone who doesn`t cancel before the end of the free month and gets charged for longer is at fault, they are not suckered into anything.

Edit: If it's true that means you preordered strait throught them? I knew it! Your trolling to gain attention for TERA!

btw, thanks Pivot. I didn't receive it and I preordered through Gamestop so I figured as much.

See you in May Sector!
No one in my gaming group is buying it, so I highly doubt it.

Yeah that would be a tough one. I have family and possibly a few friends joining though so I'm set. It wouldn't matter though to be honest, I think I'll be able to "live" in TERA a long while. Anything interesting enough to tug at me either hasn't been officially announced or has no release date set.

I`ve got 4-5 friends playing and one of them has started up a guild with his online friends and myself so... i`ll be playing for a while lol.
First off let's be honest, calling it a "closed" beta is a joke. Closed betas for the most part have NDA's and limited entry. This is understandable though as the game is over a year old and any info you want you can easily be obtained.
It's $5 to reserve the game from a box store (which you can get back). You can't just preorder from the main site you have to pay for the entire game if you want to play in the cbt's. Don't quote me on this, but I'm almost certain if you email them and express your distaste for the game etc etc you can get a refund (again, I'm not entirely sure about this, but I've heard some things). This coupled along with the flurry of beta invites that are available at multiple sites makes it very easy to at least try the game.
The 5 cbt's have been 2 weeks apart from one another, 2 days each. Almost everyone you talk to in game/ on forums really likes the combat and the dungeons that have been introduced. The quests however are extremely generic. The thought of going through them a second time would scare a casual/on the fence TERA player away. So far they have been good with this. Rolling an alt and having to go through all the story/side quests again... ew. Players understand though that once "open beta" (lol) starts that they will have to do the quests all over again for their launch characters. Doing this repeatedly however could really become monotonous and drive players away.
So far (with the exception of the debacle cbt3) there have been dungeons to grind reaching the said beta's level cap. Again, most people actually really like the dungeons and have no problem grinding them to get all the "legendary" equipment. The cap for the next beta is 38, the level cap is 60. There will be 1 more cbt after this weekend and I doubt they'll increase the "cap" to the maximum for that test.
They're slowly spoon feeding people content that is completely enjoyable while trying to entertain people enough that they don't feel as though they should have to go through and level alts. Simply put, they're trying to make it so players don't get burned out on the boring stuff too early. I think they've done a fantastic job so far (with the exception of that last beta). At the current cap of level 32 I've probably experienced 40% of the entire map? So over half the map to go and over half way to cap... sounds good. This coupled with having however many levels left unexplored? Leaves the player pretty curious.
The thought of a decrease in the CE price (I personally haven't got this email) is clever. They are trying to push the idea that they're really caring for their customers and understand how much your money means. They've done a fantastic job marketing this game. I think this will all really show with box sales, sub numbers I'm not so sure about.

Yea I couldn't agree more..lol
You only get the 10% off coupon if you have ordered through EME and have played all the CB's. We all know the OP is a TERA fan at heart ...:)

Agree with most, save the last part. As someone who preordered before CBT1, it's a bit of a slap in the face to start hearing about people who haven't paid, being offered discounts. Not the money itself, which is chump change, but the principle behind it. As the risk of sounding like a brat, the least EME could do is extend a similar token of appreciation towards those who have already offered up their money, if only in the form of credit towards subscriptions or something similar.
Edit: On a related note, I haven't gotten any such email, and I ordered a week before any of the CBT's started, and have played through each to level cap, and then some. Even submitted some bug reports. So if there's some qualification, I'm not sure what it is.
A Modest Proposal for MMORPGs: That the means of progression would not be mutually exclusive from the means of enjoyment.
To be honest I don't care at all. They want to bring in more players from a discount then so be it. I have ordered the game when it just came out in the En Masse store and I am still a satisfied paying customer, this doesn't mean that En Masse is failing. Congrats to those who are able to purchase them for less. ^^ TERA is still amazing It's just a 5->10 bucks difference. I really wouldn't understand why players would "quit" because of that. It's ridiculous IMHO.

LOL after the GW2 pre-purchase = beta deal was posted my whole guild canceled thier Tera pre-orders.
I just canceled my two CE's today and got the cacel confirmation along with the 10% email.

Hmm, I didn't get any such email. Should I have kept playing, I wonder ... hehe.
Now that I think about it, it's likely to be a US offer only.
Got the email.
No I don't think they're desperate.
I really think that is reaching to think come to that conclusion based off a sale. Every game has sales, every store has sales.
Not too happy since I have it pre-ordered at gamestop so I don't get the lovely discount.
Otherwise, why not go for it. Good for them trying to make some extra $$$.
