And it appears that there are no systems in place to allow me to be able to group with them and still be useful. I would say I could just "catch up" to them like they said, but as I pointed out to them: I have workshops this weekend and still need to write lesson plans and grade tests and they don't have anything to do. So "catching up" isn't an option.
I really can't wait for mmos to come out that aren't completely level dependent. There's really no reason why a new player shouldn't be able to contribute to a team fight that involves older characters.

There is an MMO without levels. It allows players who just started, to take part in content with players that have been around for years.
It's called EVE Online. It can be casual or hardcore as you make it.
why didnt you post in the thread titled "the level disadvantages" that is about this exact topic, that you created a month ago?
I've got the straight edge.
hai poast detective!
I think after a month it's okay to post a new topic, and I guess I may be biased because I don't like level dependencies. I like levels, I just don't like when those numbers are directly plugged into game calculations (or indirectly by those levels affecting ability and attack and defense scaling).
Because I forgot about that thread.
And yeah, I already know about Eve. It's a brilliant game, but a boring game in my opinion. But yes, I love how even with a frigate I can still be useful, and if my frigate gets blown up, then no big deal--they're cheap enough to replace. Love the balance.
