I just got done in the beta that ended a little while ago and i really enjoyed the overall playstyle of the game. The lack of "factions" reminded me of the old days when i played EQ and you could have a raid filled with literally every race/class combo and didn't end up in arguements with your friends when you were starting as to which side you should play on, (e.g. horde vs alliance or jedi vs sith) to site two examples. The one main gripe I have and its a little one, other then the aforementioned post about lack of merchants is how falling from heights in that game as so weird to me. If my guy falls off a 3ft ledge, then he acted like he was falling down a 30ft one. Was also hard to adjust to the inability to pan the camera around as I was moving without my character following that direction. Looking foward to hopefully getting into this next beta to test it out a little more before I fully decide one way or the other to buy or not.

The whole falling part is more for realism i guess, i mean if you jump off 3 ft your going to have to kneel down when you land to absorb the impact as well. As for the camra angle thats how action combat works, its played in mode of 3rd person shooter, which is why there is no mouse on the screen and you change direction with your mouse. If it was like other game camra it would loss the combat feel.

I've used only half the keyboard shortcuts (1-6), with shift and alt alternatives.

the mount also will not auto dismount you and its a pain. You cannot click on anything unless you hit escape or alt to bring up the cursor.   Hitting "F" Will talk to the NPC that is closest to you, you do not need to dismount to talk to NPC's.

This is bad because there is not enough room on your main bar for very situational abilities and if you place it on a side bar you have to stop, hit one of those keys, click it and continue.. that is VERY clunky.   I've never had to put an ability on a side bar, in fact I've used a controller the entire time, which has less buttons than a Keyboard, and NEVER had a lack of places to put my abilities, the game is designed around that idea.  The abilities have "chains" to where you don't even need to put half your abilities on your bar.

Example: too many abilities, mount is on side bar.. riding and I come across a mob or a gathering node.. have to hit alt, click to dismount and the same to remount when I am done.

Elins being sexualized(old complaint and a difficult one to fix) instead of treating them as the 8 year olds they look like the NOCs talk in a VERY mature or even older voice(I told my husband they sounded like 50 yr olds) and what they say just isn't right for their appearance. I dont care if lore says they are 120.. they LOOK like 8 year olds and shouldn't be made to seem like full fledged adults.   This is personal opinion and conjecture, I'm sorry you don't like the Elin, some people actually do, if its game breaking then I'm sorry I wont' see you playing TERA.  I havn't seen anyone complaining about the oversexualization of every OTHER race in TERA, so clearly its just with children.  OK so where is your post complaining about how Disney sells sex to children because of Tinkerbell?  There is plenty of actual real life mythology where there are skimpily clad "child like" demi gods and magical beings, look at Saytar, or Nymphs.

I think they should just sound and act like children which would clear up the confusion. Their armor is great now BTW.   its their design choice, I think they can make their characters sound how ever they like, it probably was to detract from people who were complaining about the over sexualization of them... like you.

as I said I had too many abilities that were more important, I had no space for it without screwing myself in combat.

no way you had too many skills at 19 unless you don't know about the expand actionbar button on the right, i've hit higher level on alot of classes and still have plenty of room, also i hot key my mount also and it makes life a lot easier, i use 3rd mouse button for questing

He played a mystic, believe me, the extended quickbars are needed. I hope he found out both how to activate them and how to keyboard map them.

    You could do that?!?

Dammit. Spent most of the weekend playing and never realised. :D

I thought everyone plays with their UI a bit but I guess not :)

If you press the following the button.

Oh and Alt+Q, Alt+E are the default bindings for going to hotbar 1, 2, etc.

Pre-ordered and love the game, You really need to try this game and play till the first instance or BAM(The first instance OFF of noob island- the island should proved no challenge). After level 20 the combat does start to change, its more engaging.

To say this bluntly= What makes this game different is the combat, and having to aim your skills, and learning to dodge incoming attacks!  (PVP is awesome, and the GVG is even better)

If you get past 20 and don't like the game then its not for you.

Mystic is tough on the hotbars because it has the most skills of any class in the game. Using the Options => shortcuts to map your hotkeys is very important to the class. I used a gaming mouse and mapped mouse buttons to alt, ctrl, and shift. Then I mapped my hotkeys  to 1-5, shift + 1-5 and crtl +1-5. It made it much easier to just use those few keys in combination with the mouse buttons so my hand never had to get too far from my directional buttons.

I also mapped my horse to a mouse button and used F to talk to npcs, interact with objects and loot.

as a lancer its much easier because some skill i never use unless i chain it so i don't ever need to hot key them =X

I was expecting a "closet troll" when I clicked on this page, but I'm glad OP isn't one. I know a few GW1 fans who are completely prejudiced fanboys trashing and doubting TERA, calling it "Korean grind fest", calling priests "heal bots", "just eye candy", and that GW2 is doing everything better.
