2 Games with RP and Crafting, that you may not have heard of.

I've had a bunch of time on my hands and did some googling around. I found these two games that are pretty fun. If you are like me and enjoy roleplay and crafting, as well as hacking and slashing, you would do well to check them out.  These are small indie projects.

 

Illarion (Site) (Screenshots)

 

This is a RP-required game.  It has tons of gathering and crafting options, magic, quest, dungeons and everything else you can ask for. From what I have gathered, it was started a few years ago by some then-CS students. Now, they are working on Version 2 of the game. Anyone can help out with the development, even if you don't have any techincal or graphic experience. You can add books the library, quests, etc.

 

Thorns of War (Site) (Screenshots) 

 

ToW, is a browser game. I think I've read that it is a graphic MUD. You can hunt, craft and build your own village. This game is free, but only paid accounts and build villages or hire servents.  The main site isn't as informative as I remember it being a year or so ago. But the screenshots link that I posted above, takes you to a squidoo page devoted to the game. There is also an active community on Facebook.  

I'm not sure about the RP status on ToW, though. But, the story could lend itselt to some good RP. If I remember correctly, there are two factions that are at war.  You can build forteses, and I think seige weapons, etc. 

 

If anyone has any questions, I'll try to answer them. I've only played both games for about a week total, though.

Thorns of War may look fun at first but it really isn't.  Basically end game is hire hirelings to pan rivers, allt he rivers are taken.   The old players only log to make sure the hirelings upkeeps are paid.

FiranMUX is a great fun game in this same realm of games.

I think I may have heard of that game, but never tried it. Is that a game where you choose your character off of a roster?

That sucks. I was really looking forward to building something up on that game.
