Did you see the Ilum posts in swtor and what a shitstorm that turned out to be?. Bioware then basically said, Ok Ilum didn't work, so we're going to add in a new battleground. Thats pvp sorted.

Open pvp with no objectives never work.

Just fighting for the sake of fighting an endgame will not make.

Do you all remember wow vanilla with tauren mill figting? HUge fights, great fun for the first week or so. But when you actually wanted to get something done,  not so fun then. Or daoc mordred servers, how quickly those died out. Shadowbane... RIFT! the list goes on.

Also...what's up with the 10 y.o looking girl characters with short skirts, bunny ears and stuff, [mod edit]

Uhh there is an incentive for OWPVP GvG. Your guild gains points and then ranks up. Then they can access special guild-wide items such as potions that buff every member for 30 minutes. This drastically affects endgame dungeons, pvp, events. etc.

Wait a sec. That's news to me.

GvG and guild ranks are not related as far as i know.

To rank up the guild you have to do pve quests.

Learn from this man people.  He posted his worries and opinions about the game (with good merit).  He did not post his level 1-20 beta experience as a testament on the games' PvP experience and play his opinions off as facts.  Well done sir.

The title of this thread is called "Why Tera will utimately fail" in which the original poster voices his dislike the PvP system (TO DATE)  and his belief that the game will ultimately fail due to that system. Now, most post I have read have been related to the original poster's topic of the pvp that is currently in game, which several people conceding to the fact that this is not the final product and there are systems that are not in game yet.

The topic of the post is not "list your worries/concerns about Tera". We are commently directly to the OP. If you want to see more of the post you commented on and applauded, perhaps you guys should make another thread titled "My worries and opinions about Tera".

If people are to comment on their pvp experiences in game as it stands right now... what else would you like them to comment on? Although there are systems that are not in game, can someone not give their opinion of even the mechanics of a duel? Or mechanics of one on one open world pvp, which has been experienced in beta? Who even knows if the political/territory system will make it for release?

Sorry if everyone is making you mad, but folks have remained on topic. You're trying to force people off of the original topic it seems because you don't like what people are saying. As a matter of topic, the post above isn't really related to Tera failing or not failing due to the pvp. Just sayin.

Otacu i'm curious, you said, somewhere i can't remember where, you are going to play Tera.

If i look at your history you only post about Tera.

Still there isn't a single positive post about the game, not a signle one, they are all bitter. So my question is why do you play Tera?

And yet you go off topic aswell....

BTW, in my post, I do mention the PvP features that are said to be brought in later after launch, and how it brings up red flags for me.

How is that being bitter giving out correct infos? O_O

Btw i have said multiple times i will play on a pve server because what i plan to enjoy are the 5man instances. As a Lancer

Sorry, I quoted this, but my comment wasn't referring to this particular post.

Still I don't understand... I read you criticize almost any aspect of the game, so i still don't see why are you going to play it.

Again, i'm just curious no need to say that you are free to play whatever game you see fit :)

    Some example:

"Not having water combat is a big flaw for a mmorpg releasing in 2012."

"While it's true that Tera is really lacking in the innovation department..."

"It's far from being one of the most polished and completed mmorpg at launch"

"The action combat was already done in vindictus and dragon nest, political system was done before (and better) and the open world PVP.... excuse me how is owpvp a "new feature"?"

"The GW2 cash shop is no problem. It's the KTera cash shop that's scary."

"But the fishy way they said they were "removing channels in area that aren't overcrowded" make me think they are just trying to fool players and let everything as it is."

"Jesus i can't believe people are just outright lying to make their game look good." you are calling it THEIR game, is interesting.

"Honestly Tera's future  doesn't look good."

"WAIT Tera is not seamless." BTW Tera is seamless, istanced but seamless.

"The complains about the lackluster quests and especially the bad starting area is nothing new in TERA."

Those are just some of the one i can quote without having to quote an entire post. But they give an idea of your position about this game.

Ah yes, the 2-3 big guilds owning a server syndrome. Anyone that says that won t get old fast, is fooling themselves.

LOL no, The way PVP was done is a little different. in the OB there was a  guild with only 80 people Who won 3 wars all at the same time against the 2 biggest guilds in our server ( 2x their size) and some more. The OWPVP is pretty much balanced even with zerg guilds are invovled.

Because i like the pve content (well more like dungeons and bam cause the quests suck) of the game and it doesn't mean i have to like everything else or sugarcoat it.

I mean: can we not say that it's a big flaw to have an aaa mmorpg come out in 2012 without water content? other quotes too are just stating the obvious.

Of course i said "their game" : i mean the game fanboys. People that lie about game features and have an idealized view on the game slandering other games. Sorry, i'm not and won't be part of their group.

But i guess we are a bit off topic.

I just don't see how having to aim is going to "make or break" this game. I played a ranger, dueled a few people, won. It was fun, interesting. But that gradually wore off.

Are people really that easily impressed by aiming combat that they're willing to pay a monthly subscription and grind to max level on fetch and kill quests?

Is it the exposed bewbs and butt cheeks? The bouncing giggling cutesy mobs? What is it? I don't get it.

Edit: Maybe this is too critical. Everyone's not gonna like the same things in an MMO. Some people hated SWTOR and I still like it. Some people loved Champions Online and I couldn't stand it.

Played over the weekend as well, the only "online game" I have played in recent years that kept my interest for more than ten minutes... I lasted two hours. The reason? The combat was interesting, that was it... I didn't read the quest texts, I wasn't immersed... Cookie Cutter Crap.

    I refuse to celebrate medicority...

Well, lets be honest, every game, even Tera, has stuff other games have as well. Just a cycle that is never ending now, since all the good ideas have pretty much been done to death. Heck, even WoW was just a game that had everything everyother game had. Tera, Guild Wars 2, TOR, TSW.....doesn't matter that these games just reuse the same systems/mechanics previous games had, it's all about the execution.

That brings up a good question:

If we're all God's children, what's so special about Jesus?

Oh I know you weren't directly saying that, and maybe my response was a bit direct accusing you. Main part I was trying to drive at was features of any game isn't as important as the execution of the systems :)

That's the problem with Asian style graphics. They look at little girls to model hot women and hot women to model men, and men to model the monster mobs.

You had one weekend to sum up a game. Yet you only manage to see a small fraction of it. The PvP does work towards something latter on. In that player guilds can take control of cities and regions within the game and set taxes guards npcs in the towns etc. The players in charge will control how other people quest in the game. They can either make it low level friendly or a outlaw town for those not in their guild.

The Elin are not children in the game lore, read before you post stuff. They were made that way by the goddess of nature as a gift. They are also imortal and count as some of the oldest living people in Tera. Also for a true action combat system a smaller hit box means they will be difficult to kill in a pvp match. Fear the Pompori/Elin hoard.
