Didnt lag once, save for the big fight you get into at the beginning of the intro section. NEver crashed, and I never had a problem with any players.
Im sure this goes without saying but honestly, dont trust anyone on the MMORPG forums. I dont even know how that many people could be ranting about this game as its honestly a very polished, slick, and refreshing entry into the MMO genre.
See you all in game when it releases!

My PC was bought in December 2007 - and I can play Guild Wars 2 - with low fps and no crashing whatsoever.
BUT I feel fps is lower than it has been in closed beta, can't really tell you why.
NEW IDEAS that can refresh the STALE state of MMORPGs
It's on their known issues, seems that an older computer might perform better than a newer one because it's more CPU bound than GPU.
From the forums, on the "known issues" thread:
We are currently optimizing Guild Wars 2, making ongoing improvements to the game’s frame rate. Presently, the game is CPU-bound on most high-end systems, so lowering graphics settings or upgrading your video card may not have a large impact on performance.
On older or lower-end machines, it is recommended that you try disabling reflections to improve frame rate.
What can men do against such reckless hate?
2nd day and I can't even login properly... The amount of errors at the login screen is just silly, reminds me of the D3 beta... Tho don't know what the hell did they do with it since last beta it was working just fine... Too many people I guess ?
Disconnections in game and errors at login screen or even when you create character and can't login... there are issues...
FPS drop is as well a known issue... It's mostly CPU rendered game now and it'll have lower FPS untill fully optimized to GPU.
You should've had atleast the FPS drop becuase it's IMPOSSIBLE that you didn't had any of them on a 5+ year computer with 5+ years old CPU...

It doesn't say it will perform better on an older PC.
If your CPU is 5 years old, it means it's probably dual core and has lower proccessing speed than todays quad-core with 3.0 or 3.5 GHz... It can't perform better by that logic unless you put all your setting to minimum (it does well then, but still it'll run better on a new PC with the same settings) :P
