So as many of us noticed they removed attribute points - only way to
change them now is via the gear you wear. You automatically get your
points distributed as you level.
However:
"There are 5 trait lines.
Each trait line increases 2 of the game's primary stats.
4 New stats ingame.
Boon Power
Boon Duration
Condition Power
Condition Duration
Insane amount of secondary stats added, watch this to see many of them.

I thought I would add also:
Main Armour pieces(Helm,Chest etc.) Have 1 Upgrade slot for runes, up to 6 set bonus.
Accessories (Earring, Necklace etc.) Can have Gems to slot in.
Weapons have Sigils to slot in."

I'm confused about which way is the alternative way.
Is the GW1 the alternative way or is the GW2 the alternative way?
GW2 is the alternative way.
SexuaLobster's Grease Portal
No its not, GW2 is the new path to the light and everyone will copy it....
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Hopefully.^^

Then I prefer the alternative way.
I think this video really showed me a solid example of the customization now available in GW2. It looks like character are, overall, even without choosing stats, more customizable than before. You still choose stats, of course. You just do it through gear and through trait lines. (lke you said)

I really like how GW2 tries its best to prevent you from gimping yourself without being overly restrictive on how much you can customize your character and play style. It's a good balance.
I prefer the alternative (AKA GW2) way.
The way I understand it, they work just like in GW1 in the sense that if, for example, in GW1 I put points in the fire magic attribute in an elementalist, all fire magic spells become stronger, in GW2 the same happens with the extra bonus of having extra perks every 5 and 10 trait points, which give even more chances to customize your character.
The only thing I think I'll miss from GW1 when it comes to that is the ability to reset and reassing points anytime I'm in a town, in GW2 you have to pay a trainer to do that.
What can men do against such reckless hate?
