Never pre-ordered because its sily expensive, and after testing in closed beta for few few weeks im glad i didnt cave into the hype.

I may pick it up after release if i can find it cheap enough..

Using the world as an indicator, over 95% of the people in this world won't be playing it.

    Congratulations.

Considering how many posts I've seen 'Oh god, horrible game, cancelled my preorder!' by people who earlier posted 'I will never buy this game, much less preorder it', I'm assuming that at least half ot that 5% are people who are lying.

So uh... not really missing those people.

... but whatever helps you sleep at night, man. :)

I see what you did there OP. Flamebaiting is not cool you know!

How many people actually preordered the game? Most people prepurchased the game so it's a done deal. In the UK you can't preorder the game.

Anyways you all seem to measure the success of GW by your stupid and naive MMO standards. This game doesn't have a sub so you will not know how many even play the game. It's all about selling those boxes. Bethesda sold 10m copies of Skyrim (probably a lot more now). Does anyone know how many people still play the game?

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

Hilarious. This poll is clearly biased against GW2. 3 out of the 4 answers are pretty much against GW2. Yet over 60% of the responses are B. Yet somehow, even against overwhelming odds in this poll, you have managed to transform a vastly positive majority into some kind of prediction of doom.

         Well done.

Lets be more realistic shall we?

Now that the beta was out you can expect this majority (represented here) to spread the word. Increasing the player base. You can also expect all the positive press to increase the player base (its rated as the number 1 MMO by every single major review site out there for 2012). You can expect the player base to be far greater than this as well sense here we are talking only about those who preordered. Which is going to be maybe 20% of the community? The player base will then grow exponentially on release due to..well..being released and all of the positive review scores. You can expect the game to continue to grow after that since it is being geared to be a major e-sport much like SC2. Not only that but this is not a subscription game. So nobody ever really leaves. They jump in and jump out whenever they feel like it.

How you got your prediction that the preorders would dwindle anymore than this is beyond me. The people that are keeping their preorders (the vast majority) have already experienced and loved the game in its roughest state. Why would they cancel on the next beta? or the following? makes no sense. If anything the numbers would only grow sense those people are now spreading the word.

You know your logic is off. I know you know it because you are an educated human being.

I'd also like to point out that this is the most negative forum on the planet. If all you guys can muster is 11% here, good luck on your crusade.

Still though people don't seem to be an accurate indicator for anything these days. Both SWTOR and WoW have resoundingly negative polls. More negative than positive. The worst I think was when I saw WoW had a 4% and SWTOR had like 3% of the answers in their favor.

This is actually incredible that an MMO has done this well in a poll, especially one that was clearly hoping for a more negative response.

Honestly think i'll just wait a bit after release before i make a decision over whether i want to buy this game or not.

My main concern is that it won't have $60 worth of PVE content.  And if I wait too long so that the price to gameplay is in line, then there won't be the critical mass of players to do the little PVE events with.   Still in the deciding phase,  but there's plenty of time.

Dont expect the price for the game to change anytime soon. The game has no sub fee so the devs only make money on the box price. Their philosophy is to keep selling boxes at a premium price rather than charge sub fees. They will also charge premium prices for the expansions when they come out and maintain those prices for a long period of time.

There is defintely $60 worth of content in the game right now. I expect that to do a reasonable amount of the pve content will take an average player 2 to 3 months with one character and with the other races and zones ascociated with those races you can extend that out several more months at least. Add in the WvWvW stuff and you have 6+ months worth of content at release. How far will the game last beyond that is anyone's guess at this time.

    I picked "I have not pre-ordered," because I pre-purchased the game. Lawl.

You caught us¡¡  You dont like the game , and we do, so the logical conclusion is that we  must work for Anet. The alternative is that you may be wrong,  and that is unthinkable and would probably mean the end of the universe.

I don't preorder games. Got disappointed too often.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

It was more of a dig on salesmen in general than anything......I never said I didn't like it....Your assuming things not in print...Why are you so defensive?  Are you a sales rep?   I thought so.image

I loved the character creation though, the map was pretty cool too.

The hype was so huge I was expecting the same feeling vanilla WoW gave me; I was hugely dissapointed.

I haven't played a MMO in almost 2 years now, I thought this would be the one that would rake me back in, sadly not .

It seems you never got over the non-WoW way of "questing" and you just managed to stay below level 7 to not get the weapon swap. I'd suggest you try again next BWE since your roommate has access. Try exploring a bit more. It's a pretty common complaint from WoW players that are more used to being handheld through linear questing than having dynamic events and exploration actually being rewarding.

Anet is still tweaking things. Hopefully next time, if you think you'll survive a next time, things will be easier to adapt to.

If you absolutely need a gear threadmill to keep you going then unfortunately this game may not be for you. The biggest difference between gears is cosmetic. If you're a huge fan of tiered gear, raid, higher tiered gear, higher tier raid, more gear, next tier, raid, raid, raid, ad nauseum then that's one thing you won't be experiencing in GW2.

So you played the beta even though you had previously made this statement:

"Yeah and GW2 is still going to be carebear to the max. I'll play SWTOR before ever playing this craphole game with its carebear instance box pvp system. At least in SWTOR I can PvP without jumping into instance battlegrounds."

I am so confused. Between the 19th and the 30th did you manage to buy and play SWTOR and then decide to give that up so you could prepurchase GW2 so you could play in the beta weekend?

    Please clarify, thanks in advance.

I think its creepy and sad that you went into that guys post history to quote that...

    Playing: Nothing

    Looking forward to: Nothing

I was an alpha tester. This game is not the second coming of Christ. I will stay in my current mmo of choice. No prepurchase here.
  • ArawulfArawulf Guest WriterMember UncommonPosts: 597
I chose "I did not pre-order" since the only way to guarantee beta access was to "pre-purchase" which is not the same thing. I did "pre-purchase" and haven't regretted it.

Well, let's be fair, this thread has at least one use... it should that 1 poster out of 4 here didn't even play the game and is talking out of the wrong orifice when pretending it's crap (except maybe 2 or 3 people who happen to be in closed beta of course).

Oh, and you can't cancel the pre-purchase (it's not a pre-order). So the whole thread is pointless anyway.

And this of course. I'm actually surprised the moderators allowed this thread to go on. It's based on a false premise (that you can cancel a pre-purchase) and can do no good except stirring the pot.

Pre-purchased, and don't regret it in the least, so wouldn't even try to cancel.

Poll is rather heavy on the negative bias there too.

I've spent the same amount of money on terrible games (admittedly not without a release date) and have had to shrug it off. The fact that I enjoyed myself over the weekend and am looking forward to the next BWE means the investment ahead of time was worth it.

So you would rather pay PC prices for an MMO (~$180.00 a year + ~$50.00) than paying "console price"?  Logic... give it a shot sometime.

    this^^

I can't tell you the reason why he made the post, but on viewing the results I don't think it went to plan.

Only 5% cancelling says everything you need to know.
