Why is this topic three pages? If it is honestly about trying to cancel a pre-order then the answer is...you can't! If it is not about canceling a pre-order, then it's trolling.
Lock the thread.
The game has not gone to release yet, by all rights he should be able to get his money back if he is dissapointed with what he got.
Okay fine, and how is having 30 people on a forum telling him he can't cancel the pre-order going to help him? The best he can do is contact ANet support or stop the charge with this bank...that's it.
If you want to talk about the injustice that you can't cancel your preorder, then well, that's offtopic.

This is a troll thread. The mods already had to come by and clean it up once. I agree the OP's question has been answered. When you buy the digital pre-purchase the terms you agreed to stated no refunds. Being that OP allegedly agreed to that term his only recourse is to contact his credit card company or bank to dispute the charge to their account. Lock this thread.
Im trying to cancel my pre-order, (Beta was a HUGE dissapointment), but I can not find the cancel option anywhere on GW2's site.
Anyone have path or directions to where you cancel pre-orders?
Thanks!
Best way is to call your credit card company and contest the charge. Just say they took your money but haven't delivered on the product yet and now you are no longer interested. Most credit card companies have a policy that allows you to cancel if you have not yet received your product.
Worth a shot at least...
But he did receive the product. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for consumer rights and all but what you're suggesting is just plain dishonest.
If OP really pre-purchased and wants his money back, I would try to contact ArenaNet's or NCSoft's customer service first.
Sure you can contact NCSoft first. But if they don't offer a refund despite the game not being released yet then it is not dishonest to contest the charge on your credit card. The game is not in production and has not been delivered to the consumer yet so most credit card companies will cancel the charge.
Unfortunately for the OP this is not the case. One of the advertised benefits of the pre-purchase was beta access. The OP admits to having participated in the beta. This means he, technically, HAS received (some of) the benefit of his purchase. To contest the charge at this point, claiming to not have received the benefit of his purchase, would be illegal in many locations.
Now, if the OP had received his beta invite separately from his pre-purchase my previous point would be moot because his admitted participation in the weekend beta event would not have been derived from his pre-purchase and so he could not be considered to have derived benefit from his purchase.
On the other hand, just as a merchant might be willing to offer a refund for an item that you decide you didnt like after very limited use, the OP might very well be able to get a refund by asking nicely (this is not intended to imply that he isnt asking nicely here).
A responsive refund policy can actually improve sales through customer good will.
When all has been said and done, more will have been said than done.

Actually he didn't receive the product yet, unless you are saying he payed for beta.
It's possible he could of gotten a key from another source somehow. That being said, if he did pre-purchase; there will be no refunds. It's that simple.
Beta access was included under the agreement of pre-purchasing. It is one of the perks.
Funcom is taking a similar measure with ordering through the own site and Beta. Granted, many are circumventing Funcom's plan by pre-ordering from Amazon.
Guys, thank you for your input. The question has been answered.
Please, calm down and lets move on.
Just tell us that you were trying to troll ! And no, you can go and move on! I am staying with Anet

Why no pre-order from Funcom if it means guaranteed beta access? That's what I did and after 2 weeks since my paymet still was pending I sent a ticket and got for answer that my card would only be charged 1 week before release.
So I get guaranteed beta access and the right to cancel everything if it sucks? Sounds like a good deal.
and i dont see how cancel it, suspicious... this need a US state specialist check... but idk if in your country have code of consumer rights... (idk i listened something the Arenanet is in Seatle so u need the Code from The State of Seatle - Washington) that will help you.
well its a pre-purchase... you paid for the game (idk virtual or physical) same, the game doesnt release yet. so maybe u can cancel it (maybe u need a Lawyer... and maybe u might be a hero... :O)
same if u try to buy a game for play the beta only, Are you smoke somthing?
-hope someone read my first and final only post ahaha- ill try to help cya :d

About as much as one person coming in here to bitch about the thirty people?
Did you pre-order or pre-purchase? If you pre-ordered, you must have either been picked (due to signing up for beta back in March) or you got a beta key from someone. If this is the case, go to the site you pre-ordered from and cancel it. For instance, I pre-ordered the game from Amazon back in January. I cancelled that pre-order (was never actually charged for anything - the pre-order is just a hold on a copy of the game with a promise to pay from you) on Amazon and then pre-purchased from the GW2 site so I could also get into beta. One question with pre-orders, is there any site where you had to pay for the pre-order up front?
If you pre-purchased from the GW2 website so you could get guaranteed beta access, then you can't get a refund. You bought a game. Like most software, if you buy it and don't like it, you are out the money you paid for it. Do you demand a refund from every company you bought a game from but didn't like the game? Probably not. So, why would you expect this to be any different?
And don't give me the "the game hasn't been delivered yet so technically I didn't get my product" crap. If you pre-purchased from the GW2 site to get the guaranteed beta access, you knew full well what you were doing. If you didn't know what you were doing, it's not because Anet used dishonest tactics, it's that you were willfully negligent in how you spent your money.
You want me to pay to play a game I already paid for???
I'm confused on what the topic is? The only way to settle these kinds of issues is for the buyer to be making phone calls to the Bank/CC people or the Publisher. How is a discussion here going to resolve anything?
It's pretty easy to cancel a preorder. You simply delete all the future emails from Anet while saying to yourself "I need to fully understand an agreement before I choose to follow through with it" Very important lesson to learn, before you end up buying a car or a house.
So when I see a post like this, right away, I thought that the OP just wanted to get into the beta to "TRY THE GAME OUT" with no intention of actually buying the game.
He thought he could just pre-purchase the game to get in for a few days then cancel the payment after beta.
I've dealt with a lot of customers in my life and this is not un-usual.

LOL I agree. I actually even got a warning on here for going "off-topic" and pointing out the OP's post history.
But by all means, let's continue! Let's continue this 5 page discussion about how you cancel a pre-order that you can't cancel. Intriguing! Riveting! Really it is!
