Another release from e-games which seem to put out quality product. GTH has actually been available for a while now but open beta didn't really start untill the 24th of this month.
So far the game seems pretty good. Mainly your hack and slash game with a few quests, pvp and light crafting mixed in. As for graphics, I would give it a 7.5/10. It's been a nice break from eq2 (47 healer). It has a rating of 5.7 which is rediculus. I 2 boxed a couple characters into their mid 30's so far. 1-30 isn't bad. At 30 you get a chance to specialize your class. Hasn't been bad up to now but i've heard 40+ can be a grind. That waits to be seen.

I saw this game before I played WoW. Since I just quit WoW, how does this game compare to WoW or EQ2?

I've been playing around in the open beta as well. Not a bad game overall, just seems FAR FAR too similar to Knight Online to me really. As for how it compares to EQ2 and WoW I'd have to say its not really on the same level as either game in almost any category. The graphics are nice enough, but no where near either of the big 2. There's a lot of places where stuff just doesn't look right, like if you're walking on the stair things in Frozen Creek your character actually walks like 2 feet above the stairs in midair... Sound leaves MUCH to be desired. My character uses Claws as his weapon and I find it disturbing that when I hit many creatures in the game I get this really weird THUD noise as the hit sound effect. Plus most of the mobs only have one sound they make and they seem to make it over and over and over, specially when they're fighting. There's next to no quests compared to either EQ2 or WoW, which leaves you just grinding out XP for the most part, which for a while wasn't bad since from the 24th-27th there was double XP, but I can't imagine it now without that bonus.
Long story short, its not a bad game, I think if any other company had made it then e-games would be throwing a fit cause of the similarities to KO, definitely something fun to pass the time with during open beta, but I couldn't see myself ever paying to play it.

I played KO for about 4 months and I honestly don't see many similarites. If anything you may be noticing the the asian style mmog and comparing that. You cant really compare this game to eq2 or wow either. It's just not that type of game. This is diablo 2 3d in a sense. Good ole hack and slash action.
Alright here's the deal with all these "Eastern Theme MMOG's". They are all similar in one way or another and more often than not are one large leveling, monster bashing treadmill. Your resistricted to your class and level for what you can use, wear, etc... Meaning there is NO uniqueness to your charactor or anyone else around you.
Alot of these new open beta's that have been released in the last year are only using one or two servers and they are quickly becoming over crowded and laggie, and are most often not even in this part of the globe. Personal Shops plague the streets of each town and in some cases like KAL Online, it is so bad that you almost can not even enter town with out crashing, lagging all to hell or having your frame rate drop off the edge of the earth.
These styles of MMOG's that are coming out of countries like Malasia(sp?), China, Japan, and other contries all look like they are designed from some "do it your self" MMOG kit that some company is pushing them to use. While many of these MMOG's have some great graphics, effects, and textures, the game play is by far lacking than almost anything else on the market. Free or not, they are all poor to average quality and offer very little in the way of uniqueness and originality. Don't get me wrong, some are fun and may have a good future ahead of them. ROSE Online was ok if your into MMOG's like Ragnorok Online. KAL Online, Gate to the Heavens, Knight Online, and Xiah are all based more or less on the same design model and offer little to please players of MMOG's like Ultima Online, EQ, WOW, and the rest of the bunch.
If you are itching for a free MMOG to play, I suggest taking a look at Rubies of Eventide, or searching for some free UO servers. GuildWars is just around the corner and will be welcomed with open arms, and a huge sigh of relief.
don't let me discourage you from trying these Eastern Themed MMOG's though, as no one can deside for you what you will like or not but your self. Make your own choice based on your experiances.

Gate to Heavens has finally left Open Beta, and is now an acutal game. Although it still needs more servers and bandwith, this game is very very fun. Compared to EQ2 and Knight Online this game is the best. Many things to do and is very fun to play. A must play for all MMORPG fans.
