I changed the thread title so it wasn't an unknown topic. Not that I think it was worth getting excited for, but hey, who knows, maybe they found an investor and will fix the game to be playable? I guess we will see.
Hopefully when they shut down the servers. I was so disappointed in this game, followed it for a very long time and then when I finally got to play it I almost wished I hadn't. Not sure if it has gotten better in the past few months but it was really bad when I played it.

I too followed the game. But saw the writing on the wall and didn't buy it after release. But I was disappointed just the same.
It went free in the sense that they did away with subs but they had no way to monetize the game. Their plan was to transition to an actual business model (cash shop or something) but they ran out of money and couldn't keep developing the game.
It was honestly the strangest f2p transition attempt I've ever seen. They had no plan and the game didn't make it through the transition.

Ah I see, hopefully they improved the game and not just got funding for the f2p launch only. Game had lots of potential.

I think companies are insane to build a game these days and not incude the infrastructure for a cash shop. Frankly, I think they should all have cash shops with social and cosmetic items in them from the get go. It's smart business, and it's not required to play the game. I have no problem spending some money on those types of items.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

No plan and no money pretty much sums up Earthrise as a whole.

If you cut it too short you can always nail a piece on the end.
If you cut it too long then what the hell are you gonna do?
If it's a kickstarter I would never ever ever not in a million years give that company one more cent of my money.
If it is f2p I doubt I would go back. Maybe to check it out.

This game looked interesting - Shame things didn't pan out. Hopefully they can turn things around with f2p.
I thought the game already went f2p before shutting down.

Let's assume they found a way to bring it back F2P.
One thing that concerns me is a Sand Box with a cash shop.
