Hey BC Community,

I wanted to let you all know about something I've been planning for some time now, prior to even coming to this server. A few of the guild leaders here already know that I went out of my way to contact several guilds I found to be very competitive during CBT in order to get them to all play on the same server. Though some of the guilds declined and opted to go to VoT (some I am now very glad did decline based on how they've acted during their OBT), a large portion of the competitive guilds agreed and that is how many of us landed on BC and chose it as our home.

The reason I contacted these guild leaders is because I was interested in promoting the e-sport nature and competitiveness of Tera as a PvP game in equal footing matches, such as 5v5s. When the announcement was made that BGs would be pushed back until august, a lot of my guildies (Die For Honor) were heartbroken to hear that the even matched PvP battles we'd been looking forward to for so long was still months away. Thus, to keep the interest in competitive PvP alive, I decided to try and get all the best guilds on the same server in order to host weekly 5v5 tournaments. So, without any delay I'd like to announce the weekly tournaments I plan to host, which will henceforth be called the Honor Games.

The tournaments will be hosted weekly, every Saturday starting at 5 P.M. EST, the first tournament will take place on May 19th. I've delayed the first tournament to the 19th to give people time to reach max level and get some gear. The tournament will follow a standard bracket format based off of the amount of teams that sign up, and all matches will be carried out using Death Matches, not flagging or GvGs. Here are the rules:

-No Potions or consumables will be permitted, this includes scrolls and guild potions

-No Charms will be permitted of any sort

-Using mounts will be against the rules

-Your guild must not be in a GvG with any competing guilds, if you are you will be required to either surrender or drop your guild for the duration

of the tournament

-Only one team per guild will be permitted to participate in each tournament

-The location of the tournaments will be announced to team leaders an hour prior to the start of the tournament.

-The tournament will be livestreamed and casted by members of my guild, Die For Honor, as well as recorded, and if thought interesting, uploaded for others to see

-Team leaders must sign up by either sending a PM to me on the forums, or a mail in-game to Hakurai. The PM must include your name, your guild, and the names of your 5 team members as well as a sub.

-Each team will be permitted 1 Substitution to allow them to modify their teams comp if needed, this is to combat teams that attempt to win using gimmick strats, and also adds to the diversity of the matches.

-All members of your team must have 0 infamy to participate in the tournament.

-Brackets will be organized by random roll for fairness

-Tournament matches will be best of 3, except finals being best of 5

-Teams that show up late will be disqualified immediately

-Teams that break the rules of consumables or mounts or refuse to step out of GvGs will be disqualified.

-Teams with members that have infamy will be disqualified.

-Guilds that attempt to disrupt the tournament via PKing will be permanently banned from all future tournaments, and I advise against this as there will be several guilds playing body guard.

-The winning team will receive a large sum of gold out of my pocket, though in future tournaments if these tournaments go well may have better prizes such as chrono scrolls or cash prizes.

So why should you care about these tournaments? Well, I assume that most of you are like me in that you are itching to try out your skill against other skilled teams, so what better way to do it than enter a tournament where all the best teams on the server will show up? If you lose one week, you can learn from your mistakes and come back and try again. I'll also change the formats of the tournaments weekly to keep things interesting, be it the location or the consumable rules, or comp rules. (I may make a week that requires your team to have at least two lancers on it, for example)

Also, the gold. If you haven't learned this yet, Tera is a huge gold sink and you'll be farming it endlessly to try and get your gear all upgraded. The dust alone is very expensive, not to mention trying to lux something or buying dust to lock stats in place, so those that do manage to win will be rewarded with plenty of gold to help you improve your gear.

Okay, as a final note, sign ups for the tournament will start on May 12th and will end the Friday prior so that I have time to organize the brackets. Though I doubt we'll hit the cap, the maximum amount of teams I'll allow in a tournament will be 32, and it will be a first come first serve basis. I'll announce when the sign ups start on these forums as well as advertise using in-game public channels.

The brackets, streams and videos will all be hosted on the Basilisk Crag official website, so if you haven't already signed up and checked it out, make sure you head over to www.basiliskcrag.com.

I look forward to seeing what team compositions and strategies you all manage to come up with, and don't be discouraged even if your guild is small! I encourage all guilds interested in competitive PvP to sign up and have some fun. :) And if you know of any competitive guilds that don't frequent the forums, please spread the word! The Honor Games are coming. dun dun dun.
