curious as to why you deleted the post. if you arent going to play. cause you know, it sucks anyways.
Just because he didn't lik what he saw, he still has an agreement that he signed and agreed to. He should still honor that.
I really hope it ends up being a surprise and it's a good game. Though I'll be playing GW2, I wouldn't mind having another game that was equally as good to play as well. Gonna wait a few months on it to see what peoples reactions/reviews are first though before deciding.
The thing is, people are going to be going into this game for the wrong reasons. Regardless of whether it has pvp or whether the animations aren't "up to snuff" the game is about the lore, metagame, puzzles, etc.
From my experience with the game, it's the atmosphere and lore that are the intriguing parts of the game. Anyone not recognizing this and going into the game with a fine tooth comb so they can see if the textures are up to snuff or that the pvp is "meaningful" is going to be HIGHLY dissapointed.
Having said that, after playing it at PAX I can say that the game was buggy. Nothing major but enough for me to realize that Funcom just aren't polished developers.
Ahh, If it's mostly lore/storyline I'm not really interested. SWTOR bored me to death with storyline, just not my type of game. Will still keep an eye on TSW to see how it shapes up. The most important thing for me is a DAOC'ish type of pvp. Raid grinding/boring questing/gear grinding is definately off the table for me from now on, WoW burnt me out on it.
This thread is kind of funny. Why are most of the people here treating a closed beta as a final product?
Are they? Or are you assuming that?
Just because something isn't the final product doesn't mean you can't tell how poorly the final product will be based on the current state.
Just read this post you made, I don't even think you got the point of WvWvW, My random idea: Gear that boosts when outnumbered in WvWvW. And now you are trying to say how bad another product is before even getting much into the game itself :P.

Ironically enough. There was only one game I ever played where I ended up changing my mind after my initial 1st impression. All other MMOs were exactly like I thought they'd be after an hour or 2.
I hated the game at 1st but pushed through it and fell in love with it later on. That game was Anarchy Online. LOL

TSW is about lore and story through exploration and interaction with the environment, its not spoonfed in cinematics.
If you are only interested in PVP in an MMO maybe playing a purely PVP game would be better suited. It all depends on what you want from your game though.

This is a heavily Lore based game. If you love to play through a long and involved plot that unwinds slowly, you will probably not be disappointed.

they really made a big mistake allowing so many ppl testing for free now ppl see how this game is are going to cancel their preorder lol.
Actually quite many of the current betatesters (except for the ones that just joined) have bought the lifetime-edition, because of their experience with the game. So it's not all bad. Of course there'll always be people not liking a game. Just look at World of Warcraft, tons of people hating it more than anything, still it's the most succesful MMORPG of all time.
Must be the same people who were begging for lifetime subs for SW:ToR.

Only people who dont know Failcom can be hyped by anything made by this bunch really.
Or, you know, people could just try the game out and form an opinion from the actual game rather than fight about assumptions.
did and I have been trying to tell ppl just how bad it is and no one listens.. reminds me of SWTOR, no one listened then either.
The games graphics and aesthetics are BAD.. worse than AoC which is just sad as AoC looked great but its yrs old. The factions all share probably 75% of the intro including cinematics and tutorial. LAZY! The quest system is actually really bad even tho on paper it looks great. There quests like to randomly update and do not explain why, also the quests are terrible at telling you what they want.. no I am not talking about easy mode.. I dont want that but at least tell me WHY I am walking down this road. I would check to see if any new changes are in but it seems my beta account is banned =P Even though they still sent me notification of the beta being on.. also no explanation as to why, no emails ect. Seems to be a trend with Funcom's customer service since its been me fighting tooth and nail to just test their product for them. To explain that.. their verifications like to break down and they require you to verify your account if you dont log in for a few months.. add those together with live reps that know absolutely nothing about their own crappy system... 4 days to get that cleared up luckily I was able to solve it on my own by waiting for the verification server to not be stupid.
For me , I don't play mmorpg's for story/reading a book/watching mini movies constantly , etc ,
I want the environment to be fun , but the combat > all as that's what I' m going to be doing most of the time.
If the animations are stiff , the combat lacking etc , well then , no amount of interesting lore or cut scene videos are going to make up for that.
sounds like Tera is your game. You can mindlessly run around killing your 38934521 mobs, because thats all there is to do, but wow! you're doing it in style!
i want more from a game...much more. something compelling and a bit more intellectually stimulating. something new and fresh. I can live not quite the perfect movement, combat, etc.
secret world will not appeal to alot of players like yourself. MMOs over the years have catered to the mindset of..."must have flashy armor, must have big wooshy sword swings, must have awe inspiring fireballs, must have big crit numbers on my warrior, on my mage, on my cleric, on my rogue, because thats all that matters in my fantasy themed based game"

Somehow I am not surprised they banned you o.O
Dude, lol...he rambles on blah blah, completly trashing the NDA, then whines about how his beta account being banned and how uncaring and insensitive funcom was.....priceless....wait, he calls the verification server stupid?

My big concern isn't Funcom actually, but rather the limitations on the lore making too "small" of a game to be really interesting in the long term. Scope (possibly) just too limited, in other words.
A lot of people seem to bank all of their expectations on one $50-60 game puchase being entertaining for life. In most (all?) cases, it's a hopeless hope.
I wouldn't worry about that.
You could make an entire game on Hollow Earth alone.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
No you cant hollow earth is a small zone with portal to all the zones
omg.
Seriously?
This is why I'm going to say it again, people are going into this game with the completely wrong expectations. Remember when I mentioned lore? About the metagame where players will have to explore external outlets for info?
If this was a quest you might have failed it.
so I'll spell it out, his concern was whether the scope was too small. The writings about hollow earth, if they have access to them, could be their own game.
So "ok" at the moment whatever they have implemented might be a zone but the "idea" of hollow earth is much more.

umm, I'm a huge gw2 fanboi, but Anet has never, ever, announced a release date. That June 26 date is from gamestop. Anet today again said that there is no release date after amazon's german site said that they had a september 28 release date.
There is no release date for GW2.
Incorrect, pre-order confirmation email via Arena states June 26th.
