Game of Thrones RPG

I noticed on Steam that GoT has an RPG coming out Tuesday. This is the first I've heard of a SP RPG based on the series. I've poked around the net looking for previews but didn't see much.

I love the books and show so I'm thinking of trying this out but dont want to waste my money. Anyone know anything about this one? Worth fifty buck or wait for bargain bin pricing?

I have some serious suspicions about that game.  Word of it just popped up maybe 2 months ago.  As a consumer and gamer, all kinds of alarms are going off about it.  I'd wait for reviews if I were you.  It sounds like a cash grab that's released in the same time frame as the show's recent start of the 2nd season.  I love the show, I love the books from what I've read so far, but I'm wary about the game.  Buyer beware I guess.

We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." It's been in the works for awhile (June 2009).  After the HBO show was announced, but long before it aired.  I'm guessing there was an expectation of riding the show's popularity, but this just didn't come up because the HBO numbers looked good.

Martin has had no problem, er, farming out rights for various things for a long time.  Before there was an HBO show there were already two differen pen-and-paper RPGs (2005 & 2007), graphic novels (2005), card games (2002), board games (2003), miniatures (2006), replica weapons (2007), t-shirts, and calendars.

Newer fans might associate these as cash grabs based on the popularity of the HBO show, but most of what exists has already been out there -- it's just that only fans of the books were paying attention before.

The MMO on the other hand, I have no excuse for that.  =P

Actually, according to what I've been reading on the couple reviews out there, it has been in development for 7 years now, and still released a buggy mess.

Martin said he was approached in 2004, but the rights were not option off until 2009.  I haven't watched any of the dev vids.  I suppose that Cyanide might have been making the game with no agreement in place, but Martin certainly wouldn't have had his own hand in the game before the legal agreement was in place.

I was thinking about trying this game.  As long as the story is good, I think I can overlook glitches and mediocre gameplay.  I enjoyed Alpha Protocol, despite its vast array of flaws, so a part of me expects to enjoy this game as well, but I'm not sure.  Has anyone played this game, and if so, can you tell me if the gameplay is tolerable enough to enjoy the story?

oh, I nearly forgot about this one. I've heard different opinions which were actually more rumours than opinions.

I'd wait a little bit more before I buy it.
