I had no lag at all for the 6 hours I played this morning bar from one noticable rubberbanding that last a second - but yet struggling to get in again this evening, prob cus every one who could not take the day off work are back home wanting to play.
Tomorrow we'll all be wondering what the fuss was about and we'll login first time everytime... maybe
I wasn't able to play last night at launch. I logged in an hour or so ago and played fine. I then left the solo game to find a coop game and they were behind me so I left. Since then I can't join or create games due to error 317002.
It was lame enough to have lag in a single player game. Not being able to make a game now really sucks.
yep kinda sucks, emergency maintenance is the reason. should be back in an hour or so
10: 22 a.m. PDT- We are in the process of performing an emergency maintenance for all Diablo III servers to resolve several issues that are currently impacting the game. This maintenance may cause some interruption in communication, ability to log in, use of in-game features, and disconnections. We anticipate all servers will be available for play in approximately 1 hour.
people that thinks runing a new PC game that EVERYONE wants to play and has online play that shouldnt have problems in the get go need to go back to playing xbox ...these things happen..nothing is ever perfect nor smooth..days like this **opening days** mmo or with games with online play that is highly anicipated i like to wait a week or two ..then give it a go
but i can understand the people that want it now now now! ..its what the generation has become and has become the norm and label everthing as "fail" if they dont get it right at that moment
Taking a break now from a 7h session.. started in the morning and had no issues or lag whatsoever.
But Im Europe with a decent internet connection.
I downloaded the game registered a new account, activated etc. all done in about 1-2 hours. All was smooth sailing.
Totall succes in this part of the world.. all I can say.
It was fine for me too in the midwestern US. I don't know what's going on but I feel like I'm playing a different game. I didn't have any problems all night, aside from totally understandable and occasional lag for a huge release. It was far from hurting performance in game. More like brief bandwidth hiccups. I ended up falling asleep by the time the 'emergency maintenance' hit so it didn't affect me. Maybe I was just dreaming of playing a perfect Diablo 3 launch lol.
This is what happens when you take away offline... funny how that works.
We really need separate forums for every newly launched game. There can be the anti-<MMO> one and there can be the 'what general discussion should be' one. All the lamenting can happen together where each can find solace in like minded can't-move-on-ers leaving the rest of us to actually move forward and discuss meaningful and relevant topics.
I spoke too soon. Funny how everything worked perfect until I posted here. Then it acted like it wasn't installed and needed to be reinstalled.. then I rebooted my comp and it found the game again but couldn't find my character on the server after login. Now it won't even let me login.
WTB offline D3.
EDIT: It's working perfect now. I guess whatever happened fixed itself because I haven't had any problems the past few hours. Such an awesome game when it works .
yeah i'm getting multiple error codes have been all day they know better then this this is blizzard it's not like they aren't a seasoned company or anything. Maybe they should have kept those 1k people they fired so they could have handled the load better.
Disappoting launch so far because they had so many years with this game and it seems it still needs beta time. The game isn't that bad actually but with server downtime, lag and whatever other issues people are having it makes it bad.

seems to me that its worse than you state, not only do they want it now now now, but they want it now, so they can beat it as fast as possilbe, so they can complain about that..what im seeing as i debate to try the diablo series for the first time.
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.
Godamn shit game... Now out for nearly a day in Europe, and I still can't login. I wouldn't even mind playing solo. But no: even for that you have to be connected to their servers. Not to mention the lack of a waiting queue...
Seriously Blizzard: do you need advertisment that badly that you have let the game kil the servers, so everyone shouts "omg d3 is so successful that the servers crash!"? Would it have been such a horror to simply have a smooth launch?
I feel for you guys. It must not be a fun time having MMO launch issues on a single player game. It's just another example why singler player needs to stay single player.

I just finished playing for like 6 hours and got through Act 1, then I logged out for a second, and now I can't get back in. But whatever, they said the servers are undergoing emergency maintenance and will hopefully be back up in about 45 mins.
Absolutely no lag during my time playing, aside from a couple rubberbands where I'd move in a direction, then be brought back to where I'd started in a split second, then just go along my busness as usual. But this was really a non-issue.
That being said, there's a chance that Inferno being as hard as it is supposed to be, that rubberbanding like that could cause a hardcore character to perma die... but I don't think it's quite that bad. Hopefully.
This is just another example of Activision Blizzard's growning disdain for their customers. If Blizzard hadn't stubbornly held on to their decision to make the game require a persistent internet connection, the blowback would have been minimal, if non-existent. When they decided to release the game at the same instant worldwide, they were agreeing that people would be able to play. Yes, this launch was a failure.

You can't say that ActiBlizz is the only company with single player games requiring an internet connection, because they are not. All games are going to have some form of DRM in this day and age in the form of limited installs or requiring an internet connection to play, or having to activate and play through Steam, etc.
I guess by your measure, pretty much all gaming companies having a growing disdain for their customers. You know, disdain for the people who give them money.
Diablo was never single player, even the first one had it's greatness in at the very least LAN multiplayer fun.
O_O;
I hope you realize that one's 'fun' in a game does not dictate which type of game it is.
That'd be like saying original CnC was never a single player game because it featured LAN support(which is where all the fun was at). Or like saying anything that includes multiplayer support in any fashion automatically is not a single player game.

Meh. I hope the servers get back to open beta Sunday level of stability soon enough. HC will be a bitch atm just because of the lag.

Actually I laughed on the "Lag in a single player game".

Yeah, seriously. I don't think this is what they had in mind when they designed her chewie.
It was pretty bad!
GW2 had a much better login/launch yesterday.

^ You would be right. Also, you can get like 4 copies and give em to your friends for the same price as one D3.
blizzard get so much praise, so now its time for some criticism.
if this was any other company people would be tearing strips off them, so blizzard deserve the same treatment.
it's a fail launch just like wow was a fail launch.
