Is the Windows 8 out yet? Never had a chance to have a look at it but if it's as good as Windows 7 is, I'm happy.

Can't forget all the troubles I had with Windows Vista.

I think there are a few positives things to the metro interface.  If we can modify it a bit with scripts I can probably change mine to be more productive then the Windows 7 interface.  The basic metro interface is not too great because its designed for mobile phones and tablets.  Not to mention alot of screen space is taken for Tablet interfacing.  But with some small changes like a more 3D layout, and different ways to get to already opened applications it can be a quick interface to use.

Yes, but it's all nice and wonderful that you need to buy an extra "pack" to be able to run any media (DVDs, CDs, etc.).

I can't speak for Dekron, but I think she / he is referring to this: http://www.digital-digest.com/news-63351-DVD-Playback-Media-Center-Not-Included-In-Mainstream-Windows-8-Version.html

Ah, ok. Won't affect me then, I always buy the "Pro"/"Ultimate" versions of Windows. None of the other versions are ever worth it. Besides, there's plenty of free third party codecs/players to not have to buy any extra packs for the lesser Windows version.

The ONLY redeming thing I've seen about windows 8 is the fact that it will be able to play xbox games.

And as far as MS goes I do think its a good idea to use the same interface/operating system for phone/pc/tablet, But I still think andriod is far supioror.

    We'll see...

I as well, but the thought of having to buy modular packs gives me a bit unease at what they may plan to do.

    Curious

Do you have to own an Xbox to play xbox games on the computer with Win 8?

    Never heard of this before

I'm not really clear on how it will all work, I know that it has something to do with Xbox live, (And I suppose you could have a xbox live account without having to have a xbox)

I do know that they've stated cross playform play (aka me on a xbox and you on a pc) will NOT be possible, to stop unfair advantages between mouse+keyboard users and controller users.

*snickers*  I have heard more than enough gamers who do console only that they would still destroy mouse and keyboard users.  Perhaps they should allow it.

How much will Microsoft wack us for Windows 8 ?

I'm not a programmer, I'm not even a so called at-home-in-my-pajamas-computer engineer, but they could have added all this cool stuff to Windows 98 ( exaggerating ). Were getting a new operating system every two years.

Sooooo, how much are they gonna wack us this time ?

Sure I'm low tech when it comes to computers, I'm still waiting for a record button. I would like to record live streams. Instead we get garbage stuff like x box crap.  Now both companies could profit at the same time.

It would be amazing if Microsoft made Windows 8 around $100 like all the other previous versions of Windows.  Then it will be 2 decades you can replace Balmer's sale pitch of 3.1 with any Windows product.
