I honestly haven't played on Argent Dawn, only ran around with a lvl one watching people RP but i'm sure i haven't seen the best of it just bits here and there which were fairly good.
From what people say both Horde and Alliance has some pretty awesome RP but i advise you to do some research yourself before hoping in.
WoW has alot of space for good RP.
EDIT: Also if RP is your only purpose you can just create a free account which will allow you to level up to 20 but i guess that can give you a grip on how the RP is.
There's a simple, mainly text based MMORPG called Battlemaster which encourages roleplaying and world building. People can create their own religions for example.
I have a question for this thread. Has the rp in mmo's gone away. Mostly I see only pvp,and raids etc. I know the imporantance of combat is grinding/fighting to level. What happen to non combat things to do in game? Are game mmorpg's not mmo's out there still?
Would you say that characters like "p0wnmaStOr12" or "DDCuty" (made up names) and/or those who gank people "for teh lulz" without reason are a tiny freak minority which get scared off the servers or a common annoyance?
For heavy-roleplayers there are games that are based on purely roleplay, where even public OOC interactions could be punished. These games include MUDs such as Achaea (the most populated) or Midkemia Online, although they are text based and could not be for everyone I really recommend you to check it out.
If you want Role-Playing in an online setting, I suggest Fantasy Grounds II on Steam. There is a community of PnP folks who run games there and many use the chat interface to talk rather than voip.
Is it on 24/7 so you can jump on and grind, no. Is it better than any MMO. Yes.
MMORPG players are often like Hobbits: They don't like Adventures

Around my kitchen table playing Pathfinder or whatever.
I have never understood RP in MMORPGs though... I don't knock it, it's your dollar and all, but it's never seemed a natural fit to me.
