How one change through the years

Years pass, and one discover things about himself  that before seemed impossible or strange.

In this specific case i am curious about MMORPGs. I am not talking about a specific game, but in my case i passed through several kind of MMOs and things i thought true before and immutable, instead changed.

When i started , more or less when UO was released and for some time after i was sure my kind of game was sandbox, it was adamantine, i was an old school RPer, pen and paeer, sandbox was my way, then, slowly i surprised myself in enjoying myself more through themeparks kind of game, with various degree of depth.

Lately something else surprised me, mind i mention some specific games just to give an example, i am not saying this or that game is bad or good, just they are different types, i might be talking of card games, or horse riding or whatever, just in this case the topic is on MMO and use names as example.

I was adamantine that my kind of game was The secret World,  solving puzzles, mistery, sure paced fight but nothing too "Action" because action is not my way, i prefer more paced things, slow.

I have still an account in FFXIV, i like to gather resources, to craft, to alt tab my targets and group fight.

I watched TERA and GW2 from afar, of course that was not my type of MMO, it was all action in combat.

Then i day i shrugged and tried TERA at a friend house, and i found myself taken by that kind of fighting mobs, then i tried GW2, sure they are different, but both have in common you don't fight in ways previously find in other MMOs.

I was trying TSW at the time, sure as hell that was THE game for me, on paper and on screen was all there, i was going to play TSW and FFXIV and that was it. Then i had to discover something new about myself, i really didn't like that much TSW, i realy wanted something fast and actiony, even after the one hudreth fight, i still had more fun in it then the previous game gave me.

So, i discovered something about myself, at the tender age of 34, now nearly 35 after 18 years i discovered, i like actiony type game, only reason i didn't play them was because in the earlier stages of MMO infancy  were not present or at least not in the spotlight as now.

The first signs of this i had playing Vindictus, but then some time later i had the confirmation and now, i nearly log in only TERA or equivalent action like games and await eagerly GW2 mostly for the type of combat.

Did it ever happen to any of you to discover something you liked before was now  less... likeable and things you would have never even thought  to be more fun and engaging?

In this case i am talking in specific of kind of MMOs.

Mind again i say, i am talking of game x or game y being better just if one discovered after a long time that after all his tastes changed through the years.

If you think about it..since you played UO (don't know when) that UO you could argue was, well..it wasn't action based, but you argue it definetely had some "twitch" element to the PvP, atleast in my opinon.

I'm 29 now, was around 15/16 when started UO in 98/99. Haven't found an MMO as good as it yet, and in general the games have gotten not only dumbed down but almost scaled back in a lot of ways. This genre in general was better when it was considered "nerdy" and almost "underground" I guess.
