SMITE beta a go go

Smite Beta started this evening and as expected it was truely awesome.  I usually dont get into moba games.  Played some dota back when it was just a WC3 mod and a few months of LoL.

 

PROS:  Fast combat and extremely fun gameplay.  More focus on pvp and group coordination and less about playing farmville with the trash.  Playing mythical gods is always a plus and the item upgrading system seems easier and new player friendly. WASD movement definately superior than the click, click, clickity clickaroo movement.  Just cant seem to get enough of the god smiting goodness.

 

CONS:  Not all champions are created equal in my opinion. I believe there is only 17 gods available at this current time in the beta.  1 map as of yet.  There is no jump feature.  Beta is only open for 2 to 4 hours a day.

 

It might possibly be the biggest moba esport for 2013 and hopefully will be open beta sometime late some summer considering how highly polished it is. With a full release this fall, which everyone will enjoy

Its pretty bad, there is no dodge mechanic, no jump, normal travel speed is slow. Ranged characters are at a serious disadvantage with the maps I have seen no room to kite, narrow corridors. When you strafe you move slower than your normal forward and backward speed. So bad...

 

Really Key things that make this not fun.

Just signed up for beta, SMITE sounds and looks really cool. I'm a newly converted MOBA addict but I miss the 3rd person view combat of MMOs. This is just the game I need atm

Honestly, i just threw down $20 for this weekend.. So worth it, there's never been anything like it.. Including auto-buy and auto-skill features for the noobs, this is probably one of the most interesting MoBAs i've ever played.

Really Key things that make this not fun.

Dodge mechanic = If they are looking at you, move left or right.

Jumping would add nothing to the game since there is nothing to jump over.

Just because you (And I do mean you specifically) can't kite doesn't mean it's not possible. Zeus = Shield skill incrase speed, Ao has a speed buff to kite, Anubis can root, etc.

And if you can walk side to side as fast as yo ucan walk forward and back, I demand video!

These are opinions, not "key things".
