Hopefully the actual story/gameplay is better than other recent FF titles. Last one I tried I quit pretty early. Between the story, linearity, and lack of combat depth I've found little to hold my interest in the last few FF games. My acceptance of japanese character/story archetypes, and their lack of logic, seems very limited in recent years. I love how they're really creative in other ways though.
If you have some crazy monsters burst out and they're weird and it makes no goddamn sense: I'm on board. But at least have the main characters react to the situation in a believable way.

Would be awsome if they came out with a new Final Fantasy usuing this engine, I really wish they would get back to the roots of the game instead of their futuristic versions. The games still play like the original turn based, but they are just blowing the game out of what it was.....I want the "Fantasy" back in the "Final Fantasy"....I do like the techy, Steampunkish feel its always had...but just dont keep taking it to "Futurisitc"
This engine with a game we've all been asking for would be a wow (not warcraft wow) moment for sure!

Well the thing is called a FF Tech Demo. It would be entirely unexpected if Square Enix randomly decided to do a tech demo unattached to any intended game (let alone a new FF game.)
Regarding tech/steampunk, that's been part of FF since way back. I agree that it'd be cool to see things be a little more medieval (especially since with modern graphics the guns vs. swords thing feels a bit off.)

Very impressive, I have to admit.
It looks cool, but what is it??

It's a tech demo, which means its purpose is to showcase one or more aspects of the engine, not really a particular game.
Examples of tech demos

Damn, I'd want to know how the story continues. ^^
